Det - Van/Florida

Detroit gets:

Rights to Ohlund

Vancouver gets:

Rights to Hossa

--------------------------------------
OR
--------------------------------------

Detroit gets:

Rights to Jaybo

Florida gets:

Rights to Hossa

--------------------------------------

How do you guys feel about this? I think it the first deal could work because of all the rumors of Hossa + Gaborik to Vancouver and I know that Ohlund could work out with Detroit because he's played with Lidstrom in the Olympics before and said he loved it. The Florida one I'm sure probably wouldn't happen, but it's just a thought. I think we (Detroit) could get Jaybo to sign, but I highly doubt Hossa would sign in Florida. Value wise I know they're equal because rights to a player is essentially little to no value.

Flame on?

Detroit does not have the cap to sign an Ohlund or Bouwmeester...do they?

Detroit has:

Rafalski, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Stuart, Ericsson, Lebda, Lilja on D.

They don't need JayBo or Ohlund for Hossa. They will be very expensive 2nd line D. It won't matter after July 1st anyways cause they'll all be UFA's.

Plus...Hossa wants to play for a winning team.

Lilja is more than likely going to be on LTIR because he has a severe brain issue right now. Last I heard his brain was bleeding and he has constant headaches. He may never play again. Lebda is a constant liability. He never seems to be in the right spot. The other thing is that Lidstrom's contract runs up this season and he may retire. JayBo will with out a doubt never be Lidstrom, but I do think he could fill a void. I'm not too sure on Ohlund's age so I speak much for him filling in.

Guess that's why he didn't want to re-sign with the club that just won the Stanley Cup right?

I do think VAN will be the most likely team to sign Hossa if he leaves DET, so it makes sense that they'd want to acquire his rights.

However, I doubt Detroit wants Ohlund. Sure, he'd be a great fit, but there's no cap space for him.

I'd rather see the Wings get Jannik Hansen in exchange for Hossa's negotiating rights.

Detroit was a winning team during the regular season.

That's pretty unforunate about Lilja (didn't realize it was that bad), and I see the merit assuming Lidstrom is retirement-bound. But, as of next year, their cap is looking pretty tight, since Z's and Franzen's big contracts kick in.

51.255M before Hudler, Samuelsson, JayBo/Ohlund.

TBH...JayBo is a much better prize than Ohlund.

I agree Det doesnt have cap space for Ohlund(or Jaybo) and are set at defence, even with Lijia not playing....(I think Ericcson is their hope to replace Lidstrom in another few years?)

Not sure Hossa comes to Van either as VAn probably wants that puck moving defencman in Jay-BO first.(after the Sedins resign)

Personally as focused as Van is on that puck moving defencman ,Edm is focused onlooking for that premier scorer may have the best chance to sign Hossa.

Detroit has so much defencive depth that the need to sign any Defenceman is POINTLESS..

Wings have the above stated defenceman, plus guys like Kindl and Solosov who are coming through the system..

No of this makes sense!! Due to the tagging rule. No one can be signed until after July 1.

Detroit would take a C level prospect or a 7th round pick before the rights to Bouwmeester or Ohlund, as theres ZERO chance they sign either of those Dmen.

I think Florida Likes this proposal too. rights to Hossa for rights to Bo. Will it happen, 99,99999% NO, but it's a nice thought.

About all the criticism about playing for a "winning" team, well he's been in the finals the past two seasons, and hasn't won the cup. It doesn't matter how great your team does during the season,it's the post season that matters. I know Florida hasn't made the post season in nearly 9 years, trust me I'm a fan, we know the feeling, but that doesn't mean we don't have a good team, with great prospect depth finally and a decent core that Hossa could add too.

Hossa-Reino-Horton
Booth-Weiss-Frolik

would be a great top 6 lineup.

How about...

You get Rights to Hossa (doubt he signs but if you want him take him) + 3rd round pick

Det takes Mattias back.
