SRC reported him not considering this option

It would make a lot of sense. But I think the problems Balsillie is having trying to move the Coyotes will make them think twice before investing in the new arena.

The guys who want to build a new arena in Quebec city, want to build it regardless if a team is already in line or not. They said so last week on l'Antichambre (they were invited on the show).

They say they will go ahead and build it (if they reach their financing goals) and the team will come eventually.

The 100 million dollar loan from Finance Quebec offered to the eventual Habs buyer has been said to be offered to an eventual lobby of financers who would try to get a NHL franchise, not for the guys trying to build the new arena.

Yeah that's what he says but obviously finding the money for building the arena would be much easier if they have a NHL team waiting to move in.

An arena means a team will eventually come.

thank god that we soon be able to go back commenting on hockey matters like next week-end... And if Timmins and co decides to select Louis Leblanc in the first round, we'll enjoy another round of crazyness on this board...

why bother watching comedy central, the real funny stuff is right here at HF Habs board

Technically neither, but when the sale gets rubberstamped by the governors, they will in fact own the building.

Am I the only one who feels a "are-they-legit?" vibe coming out of this article?

It's more about "When we thought that the team was finally bought by locals...it seems that it could be more locals from Toronto...."

Yeah, more negative speculation by the Montreal Sports media.

Hasn't it occured to them that all three brothers made a hefty profit in the merger of Molson with Coors??? It is obvious they are financed, most owners are.

Just the fact that the article ******* about not having a PC conference to explain the details when the sale hasn't even been officialized, and the fact that they didn't take Finance Quebec"s offer (because it would make public the details of the sale !!!), shows their negative bias.

Can't they wait till November when the sell will be official before spouting speculations wall to wall? Can't they wait for the PC then which would be much more logical?

I guess selling newspapers is more important.

Let me put it another way: I wonder if sour grapes factor in. Consider the source of the article.

Touche!

I forgot about that "little" detail.

Yup, there's no bias there, NONE whatsoever.
