Just for fun, take any two possible players for each round and see if you can come close to the real thing. Winner gets the sound of one hand clapping.
Round 1
Evander Kane or
Braydon Schenn
Round 2
Ryan O’Reilly or
Tomas Tatar
Round 3
Taylor Doherty or
Alexander Avtsyn

It's more than likely that Kane will be gone at 4, could very well come down to Schenn or MSP. Schenn seems like a protypical DL player but LW is a serious concern especially if we can't come up with one through other means.

I do admit we are right handed heavy. Schenn and MSP both shoot left. I would be happy with either one but I hope Kane is available at #5. Maybe Atlanta wants Schenn and calls DL and says I will give you #4 for #5 and a 4th rounder.
**I really like Cowen too but I don't want another defensemen.
LA trades 5th overall to TOR for 7th overall and 50th overall and 3rd in 2010.
7th overall-MPS
35th- Klingberg
50th-Tatar or Rajala
66th-B.Dumoulin/Doherty
This is a great draft to have a high second round pick. Lots of strong talent apparently in the late 1st / early 2nd, and all the teams that are picking late will probably take the safe picks with their late 1sts. That leaves the high-reward guys in the early 2nd, which is great if you've already gotten a solid pick with an early 1st.
If I were Lombardi I'd go for a boom/bust guy like Rajala or Panik in the 2nd, but I think he'll go for one of the character guys like Palmieri and O'Reilly (who I wouldn't be surprised might be gone by then since they are both potentially late 1st talents).
Another name to throw in that I hope the Kings would land is Anton Lander. He seems like he'd be a good fit in the system and could be at worst a two-way checking line forward much like Niklas Sundstrom.
In my opinion, Kings are looking for a closer/goal scorer. Kane has his name written all over that. If not Kane, MSP/Schenn will be the two options.
Another scenario would be Kings going after #2 to pickup Hedman. I think that's very likely but then again I don't think TB will do it.
For those who are thinking about going down in the draft picks, i highly doubt it will happen.
I guess only time will tell
If Dean wants MSP he better consider trading down....he is starting to drop in the eyes of many scouts...using the 5th overall pick would be a mistake if Dean could trade down to #7 and get some assets from Toronto.

Then again, as much as everybody is convinced Pheonix SHOULD draft a defenseman like OEL or Cowan, possibly Kulikov, MPS is exactly the type of player they have a strong history of drafting the last few years. It would not shock me one bit if Pheonix takes him at 6.
A line with MPS and Boedker probably looks very tantalizing to them.
