....And right now Fletcher’s in on a lot of different things, from Heatley to countless other things (lots of rumors, but I only report what I know from sources, not what’s just floating around) to talking with Toronto, Edmonton, Colorado, Detroit, St. Louis and Philly about Josh Harding.
despite talk of harding having strong numbers because of minny's system, he is definitly one of the RFA goalies who has the potential to step into a starting role here, and has shown flashes of brilliance in the last 2 seasons as a backup! ...and he will hopefully be a cheaper option than going after lehtonen
That 'poor' Florida team finished 6 points behind the 4th place Penguins.
True, and one of the reasons why was because of solid goaltending. While both Vokoun and Anderson's GAA were around 2.70 (comparable to Biron and Niittymaki), both of their save %ages were over .920 (both better than Biron and Niittymaki).
you guys know me, I've had Harding pencilled in for a long time now and if WE end up making a trade for him then I'd think it would be Lupul for Harding + pick (2nd or 3rd rnd pick in 2010). Obviously if we make a play for Boumeester that is centered around Lupul then we couldn't make that trade for Harding. However, reports now are out that FLA wants a guarrenteed 3rd rnd pick (not conditional) for the rights to J-Bo. They may want something else if he does sign (conditional 1st???) but I haven't heard about it yet.
Something like this would make a lot of sense to me:
To Min - Lupul
To Phi - Harding + 2010 3rd
To Fla - Carle + 09 3rd + conditional 2010 3rd (if J-Bo signs)
To Phi - J-Bo's rights + conditional 2010 1st or 2nd (compensation for Carle + 09 3rd if J-Bo doesn't sign)
Minny gets a scoring 1st/2nd line wnger
Fla gets a decent puck moving dman in Carle to replace J-Bo on the PP and two 3rds if he signs.
Philly gets a backup goalie who can be the starter next year (needs to be resignedas he's an RFA), they shed more than 5 mil in salary (Lupul + Carle - Hardings new price) ,the rights to J-Bo, and the get a 1st from Fla and keep their own 3rd in 2010 as compensation for Carle + 09 3rd if J-Bo doesn't sign.
On the main forum there is a link that Luongo has an extension in place. This would put Schneider into play as well. One of him or Harding with Emery this year would be a nice move if the price (no Montreal pun intended) is right.
I want the Flyers to go with a Detroit system of two solid goalies that don't break the bank. Emery and Harding could be a sick duo, but I'd be happy with Emery/Anderson that was there's a true #1 and a capable backup that can carry a load of games.
A 2.68 GAA/.919 save %age (2nd year in Houston) is dominant?
If given the choice I'd rather take Anderson. Just my opinion.
That's pretty damn good. He was 29-8 that season. His team was good (second in the division, lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs), but that is quite solid. The D on his team wasn't anything to write home about, either. They had Shawn Belle and Kurtis Foster each for less than 20 games and then a bunch of guys no one's ever heard of.
