Michael Jackson passes away at 50

I figured this was important, deserving of its own thread.

OT: Michael Jackson is dead

Pop star Michael Jackson has died after suffering a heart attack, it has been reported. Media reports have said the star, 50, was taken to hospital in Los Angeles, California, after he was found not breathing following a suspected heart attack in his Bel Air home earlier.

RIP Jackson, great contributor in the history of music

he made some great music, you can't take that away from him.

that being said, the dude did some grimey **** to kids...for that, i'd be a bit worried about where his soul's going if you believe in that sorta thing.

One never knows.

No matter what, it is always a shame when a person passes too young... I find that his talent was so wasted.

Farrah is gone also... God plays no favorites. She is now at peace.

This actually got to me... I'm not sure why. I made a joke on my facebook about my Death Pool and how this was the big action of the year with Farrah Fawcett also going... but... Damn... I'm 22. I grew up with my parents listening to him, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Prince, Alan Parsons... All that. I was actually thinking the other day that Peter Gabriel might be dieing or something cause i saw a picture of him and he looked HORRIBLE... Now its my other child hood music star - MJ...

It's gonna be strange without him appearing every now and then an such.

And yet, most of the Stones live on... Go figure...

You know, say what you want, but Thriller is just an insane album and ones like Bad aren't bad either, RIP.

I got sick of that song about a week after its release. It was on every god damn minute...and I was like six too, it's hard to annoy someone that young.

So he's dead. Big deal, the guy was a ****in creep.

As you can tell I'm not too sentimental.

Yeah I personally hate the song 'Thriller'. So many better MJ songs, but every god damn bar around her has to player Thriller every hour. Drives me crazy.

And it is a big deal. People like this thing called music. Strange. Granted its not as big a deal as when Michael Brecker or Joe Zawinul or Miles Davis died, but it still is a big deal. Not many people could make music that people from all genres appreciate. There have been electronica, death metal, thrash, punk, black metal, jazz, etc. etc. renditions of many MJ songs. The only modern artist i can think of that commands that much respect across genre is... Aphex Twin and...uhm... uh... I guess just highly technical players like Holdsworth, Mcbride, and such.

I'm not saying get all emotional about the guy, far from it. Like i said the first thing i did is went on my facebook and made a joke about my Death Pool that I'm in. Something that people on this forum actually noticed and sent me messages to get into the Death Pool and such... haha... But to just to say this isn't a big deal and that this isn't really newsworthy is quite strange.

And Van Halen only did the solo... Something he barely even did. He thought the calls from MJ were a joke so he kept ****ing around with the guy who he thought was not really MJ. MJ was about to go on making it without him and finally Eddie realized it was actually MJ. And Van Halen... eh I'll save that for another thread, haha.

You know, I don't really feel sad with regards to Michael Jackson. He looked like he'd been knocking on death's door for years. He did not look healthy for years.

I think Farrah Fawcet is a real sad case because she fought to the end. She tried radical treatments outside of the states and she wasn't going to go down without a fight. That cancer is a dirty thing. Seen too many lives taken from that disease.......
