Who thinks the draft is going to be pretty uneventful tomorrow? All this talk about trades and surprise picks...I think its gonna be rather straight forward and not surprising.
Doubt it. The draft is one of the 3 big times during the year when NHL teams make a lot of deals. The other two are right after training camp when teams need to fill holes, replace injured players, and the trade deadline.
Part of the reason for the high number of deals at the draft is the GM's all in close proximity and communicating for the draft and for trades. But also because teams have cap room again if they've got any medium to big salaries leaving via UFA. Also GM's may want to shore up certain areas heading into the free agency period.
In the salary capped NHL, the NHL Draft is a real deal making time and history proves it.
