Schroeder can play the wing in a pinch.

Oh let's not worry about that just yet!

It's great to know that Gillis went with BPA instead of drafting by needs. And by Gillis' comments and Luongo announcing the signing I'm very optimistic about him re-signing.

Does this make you think the Sedins are gone?

That was his 2nd WJC.

He had more points then Tavares as a 16 year old in the WJC. and last year he was the best player on team usa over Wilson and JVR.

#7 overall year before his draft year.

and u know how he did last year.

You got a steal.. looks like ill have to cheer for Vancouver now with Hodgson and Schroeder....

Exactly my thoughts! Can't wait to see this guy develop, and to see who we pick in the rest of the draft. Moving up to pick an Elliot or Despres would make this draft even sweeter.

This is encouraging, though it's important to keep in mind that shorter people have a much easier time with the bench press due to a much smaller range of motion.

Trust me, I know...I'm 6'5" and my bench press sucks ass.

Still, fantastic pick. His skill level is tremendous as well as his skating.

Schroeder can play RW as well as center.

Grabner/Hodgson/Schroeder

Completely irrelevant to the Sedins. As good as he is, he's not stepping into a first-line job for a while.

Wouldn't he be best suited at Center though? Maybe it would be wise to let go of the Sedins and just fill the holes with a stop gate of Sundin, Kesler, Hodgson for next year and the season after that maybe insert him in the line-up if not fill in Hodgson on the 2nd. I know I'm thinking far ahead of myself, but it's a question I'm real curious about. I don't want to trade away one of Kesler, Hodgson, or Schroeder to accommodate for Henrik, especially since he will be much older by the time Schroeder will be ready to step up.

Schroeder can also play on the wing so that works out as well

Why are people saying he's a shoot-first player? I'm no scout, but by looking at his stats (twice as many assists as goals) and watching him the whole 2 times on TV I did, I'd say he's more of a "make the right play" kind of player than "shoot-first, pass second" type player.

Or no?

These are the types of problems you WANT to have.

I doubt there's been any time in this franchise's history that the center spot doesn't look so bad for the future (the present of course depends on the Sedin's re-signing)....

I've been smiling about this ever since I first started reading about O'Reily. I would totally sport a O'Reily jersey is the Nucks grab him.

Recent thread from the draft board on Schroeder: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=654177

A lot of people thinking he's a Top 10 and even Top 5 player in the draft.
