Do we know how to work a draft? Very odd decision.

Saskatoon Blades goaltender Adam Morrison has been invited to participate in the fourth annual Hockey Canada Program of Excellence Goaltending Camp.

Morrison, an 18-year-old from Surrey, British Columbia, was named to the camp as an injury replacement to JP Anderson of the OHL's Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. The camp runs June 11-14 at the Norma Bush Memorial Arena in Calgary, Alberta and will feature fourteen goaltenders selected from teams throughout the Canadian Hockey League (11 in the under-20 age category and 3 in the under-18 age category) that have been shortlisted as possible candidates for Canada's National Junior Team and National U-18 Team respectively.

During the 2008-09 season, Morrison appeared in 13 games with the Blades, compiling a 9-1-1 record with a 2.49 goals against average, a .907 save percentage, and 1 shut out.

This reminds me of how I felt when the Eaghles took Kevin Kolb a few years ago... Maybe the kid pans out, lets hope just never really heard of him.

A goalie who got in 13 games. Whoopty Do. I'm so upset with this franchise right now. Can't these idiots in scouting do anything right? There were better players available. Yet they draft some hack who's only managed to get in 13 games.

A series of questions for the Blades goaltender.

The 2009 NHL Entry Draft goes Friday, June 26th & Saturday, June 27th at the Bell Centre in Montreal. In the coming days, saskatoonblades.com will going one on one with members of the Saskatoon Blades who may be drafted.

Today we go one-on-one with goaltender Adam Morrison.....

Saskatoonblades.com: A big part of any junior hockey player is the years spent playing minor hockey, what associations were you a part of?
Adam Morrison: I was born in Edmonton so I grew up playing on the outdoor rinks. I stayed playing hockey for the Knights of Columbus and moved to Whitemud West before moving out to White Rock, BC in 2000. I played for Semiahmoo Minor Hockey for two more years before becoming a goaltender full-time and played there up until midget, where I played in the BC Major Midget League for the Greater Vancouver Canadians and the Valley West Hawks.

Sb.com: What current NHL goaltender do you try and pattern your game after?
Morrison: Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes because he is so efficient and rarely out of position. I also like his composure, poise, and his ability to come up huge in do or die games.

Sb.com: What are your strengths in net?
Morrison: My skating, composure, battle, size, and mental toughness.

Sb.com: What are some of the things you will need to work on in order to get the next level?
Morrison: My hand speed, patience, puck handling, and continue to get stronger.

Sb.com: What is it like playing under Lorne Molleken?
Morrison: It`s a real pleasure because you know how much he wants to win and that really inspires you to work that much harder in practice and games because he know what it takes to play in the big leagues. I also enjoy his intensity because it can give you that little tap on the back to pick you up in tough situations.

Steve Mason started his junior career in 200506 with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). After playing 12 games in his rookie junior year as a backup, he was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round, 69th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Just out of curiosity, what the **** makes you an expert? Have you interviewed all the available players and scouted them?

This kid easily should've been available in the 6th round.

And I'm not saying he will. But there's no need to bash a pick just because the guy's a back-up.

I agree. Seems like they most likely could've gotten him in the 4th/5th round.

Perhaps, but if the Flyers see something in this kid...why wait multiple rounds and risk losing the guy?

Pekka Rinne was drafted based on how he did in warmups because he never got into games. And he's better than everyone we got right now.

I just love the attitudes around here, to you guys the draft is about nothing more than collecting as many shiny objects as possible. You can't rate a pick 10 minutes after its been placed

Maybe they knew another team was keen on him, but if you ask me this has Jacob DeSerres written ALL over it.

Not the case at all, but when people call the scouts idiots and suggest there are better players I don't understand it, the Flyers' braintrust obviously valued this guy as a 3rd round pick and he was available so they picked him? Whats the problem?
