16G 18A in 61 games, yet another early 90
I think he was drafted because of his playoff performance with Windsor, 10G 11A in 20 games.

Looks like nothing to be to excited about.
So we're done now right? Or one more pick?

He's fast as hell. He did improve as the year progressed. But he had a long way to go. Could work out to be a late round gem. Could be ugly.

Someone brought up Kyle Wellwood with me when I was talking about Pronger last night. Now we draft his brother. Obviously someone at the table was watching us

I LOVE this pick. He scored a couple of pivotal OT goals for the Spitfires and is incredibly agile.

He's the Ilkka Sinisalo of the OHL. Penalty shot first goal?

And here comes Free House.

Silver Charm and Free House are at it again.
Touch Gold is in third.
Three of them in a line!
Touch Gold. Touch Gold wins it by half a length. What a Belmont!

Yep. And then scored the OT goal to end the series vs London.

Hopefully he doesn't have the same diet as his brother.

Eric is the exact opposite of his brother as a hockey player. He keeps himself in much better shape. He's not as naturally talented, but I think he has a much better work ethic. He was primarily a checker his first couple seasons of junior - the Spits coaching staff challenged him to improve his game offensively mid-season and he responded very well. He's got very good speed and he's an opportunistic player. He really stepped it up in the championship run for the Spits during the playoffs and scored some pivotal goals.
He's one of my favourite junior players and as a Spits season ticket holder, I really enjoyed watching the progress me made this season. Will he become an NHL player? Who knows, but he's earned the chance and I'm really happy to see the Flyers take a chance on him with a 6th round pick.

Sounds good. If you can, let us know how he does next year, periodically, in our prospects thread. Thanks.

A little tidbit about Wellwood from the
Windsor Star :
Quote:
Wellwood rounded out the unrated trio when the Broad Street Bullies selected the five-foot-11, 168-pound speedster.
"I'm going to get some boxing lessons and I'll be ready to go," Wellwood joked.
He had talked with the Flyers prior to the draft and had a feeling that might be his destination.
"I was watching every time their turn came up," Wellwood said. "It's a sense of accomplishment, but there's still a lot of work ahead."

The good news is -- if he wants boxing lessons, Emery can help.
Should Wellwood want to go the MMA route, look no further than Cote...and I'd put $20 that Wellwood kicks his ass within a month.

Unless Cote gets close enough to hug him.

Is that Briere's wife in the glasses? I dig the low cut top, and I actually like the glasses too. She's got the hot librarian/teacher thing going for her.
