Agreed, shame on the Canadiens organization!

Every other of the first 20+ teams was respectful enough to ensure they did both, even bringing two guys to the mic if needed to do it.

I was totally NOT surprised at the two franchise cities that snubbed the other language, so typical of the two places, really.

Did you notice?
another brilliant thread! that's two. got a third in you? specifically about montreal, your comment on why timmins didn't speak english, had more to do with being excited and carried by the moment. in the past he has always spoken two languages when announcing habs first pick. he is an anglophone with limited french, he announced it firstly in french and the roar of the crowd began to drown him out so he quit after announcing his name the first time. the thread speaks more about your own agenda than anything else. anyone who has spent anytime in montreal, visiting or living knows the ******** you speak of is not as big an issue as it's made out to be. there's a few knobs in the french media...and that's it

It really doesn't matter though. It was just a nice gesture by some teams. Timmins speaking french for the whole speech was pretty weird, I didn't know what the heck was going on, and I'm francophone.
he screwed the Leafs draft so, I don't mind him not speaking french, that's good enough

I've noticed that with McPhee - he doesn't mess around, just blurts it out.

I found it amusing that almost all the teams rolled out their Quebec scouts for their one moment in the sun.

That's TYPICAL.
Coming from New-Brunswick where it's pretty much 50/50 french/english, that couldn't be further from the truth.

About 80% of the time :

Go to a store, the person there is english. If you talk in french, you aren't getting served unless you switch to english.

So I really don't know where you get your argument.
