I think its more of we didn't have a first round pick (or even a second round) in the past 2 drafts, and the one coming up next year we dont have a 1st or 2nd. Not saying to overrate picks, but one should atleast have a 1st or 2nd round pick in 3 drafts, yet we dont.
I am trying to figure out how this conversation came up in Moorison's draft thread.
I also think it is risky to draft the dude just based off of what Steve Mason did (according to what his coach said)
Well, I think they could at least trade Carle for picks/prospects, lost in the negative tide of opinion about him is that he had a 26 point season playing 21-22 minutes per game and did okay in his own end.
And I don't think Morrison was only drafted on the Mason comparison, I think it's just an example that drafting a backup can work out okay.

Oh I agree. I even think that he could have gotten more then 2 points in 12 or so games with us then Tampa. Then he would have near or over Coburn points. That does goes to say though that I think he was alittle iffy on defense. Just my opinion though.
At the moment I think a top 4 of Timonen, Pronger, Coburn, Parent is solid and Carle being traded for picks next year would be beneficial. This would allow us to also get players to fill out our 3rd line.

Perhaps, but if the Flyers see something in this kid...why wait multiple rounds and risk losing the guy?
Absolutely...which is why the ridiculous praise of the Red Wings late round prowess is much overrated. If they thought those guys were that great, they weren't going to let 100s of picks go by before they grabbed 'em.
If you think the kid is good enough...you get him.

As much as I'm not Carle's biggest backer, I'd rather keep him (if possible) and move/lose Jones. Should Pronger walk, at least you can insert Carle back in the top 4.

A goalie who got in 13 games. Whoopty Do. I'm so upset with this franchise right now. Can't these idiots in scouting do anything right? There were better players available. Yet they draft some hack who's only managed to get in 13 games.
And basically won them all. Next year is his to start in Saskatoon with Holtby leaving for pro hockey.
They chose goalie Adam Morrison (Saskatoon) from the Western Hockey League at No. 81 in the third round. He is from Edmonton, Alberta.
"Our guys liked him," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said about Morrison. "We sent Neil Little in to watch him a number of times. He didn't play a lot of games. The guy that Washington picked played most of the games.
"This kid will play a lot more games next year for his junior team. We've liked him and done our homework on him."
So it's the Neil Little angle. We'll see if this works out I suppose. It seems like they're just hoping that he's under the radar because he didn't play many games, just Steve Mason.

Neil Little also said that Backlund is better then Gustavvson. We shall wait and see on that one also.
I have no faith in Homer anymore. Ever since the upshall trade, Ive been scratching my head at every move they make.
Why don't you wait 5-7 years before you make the appropriate judgment...since neither of the goalies selected today have proven their worth at the NHL level.

that's the first thing I thought when I realized how off the board he is, whatever method they were using before for drafting goalies didn't work so they're going a new direction and I'm not surprised they went off the board. Maybe Little is a moron but he doesn't seem to look at things like other scouts (liked Backlund more than Gustavvson, this)
I just hope Neil Little's scouting skills are better than his goalie skills were. I'm holding out hope that this kid is going to have a breakout season next year in Saskatoon as the starter. It should be fun to track him in the prospects thread next season.
