Compare your picks vs Trevor Timmins

I am not starting this to bash any picks or anything. I am just doing this asking at each pick who would you personally have picked that was still available. Maybe if this catches on we can pull this thread up in a few years and see how we all would have did.

REAL MONTREAL PICKS:

18-Louis Leblanc
65-Joonas Nattinen
79-Mac Bennett
109-Alexander Avtsin
139-Gabriel Dumont
169-Dustin Walsh
199-Michael Cichy
211-Petteri Simila

MY PICKS:

18-Jordan Schroeder
65-Joonas Nattinen
79-Toni Rajala
109-Olivier Roy
139-Jerry D'Amigo
169-Steven Anthony
199-Cassidy Mappin
211-Beau Schmitz

You guys are missing the point of the thread.

I honestly don't know enough about the last few rounds to make an informed list. But, although I'm optimistic about Leblanc, I would have picked Schroeder at #18. I would have picked Rajala at #65 (unaware that he would fall past #79 as well).

As much as I ***** about him not drafting enough Quebecers, I think as far as smelling talent around the World, it's hard to find somebody better than Timmins. Especially in later rounds, when the chips are down I would trust Timmins over anybody else. I think my problems have been more about team philosophy, esp. in the first round. Where even if Trevor had Fischer on his list over Giroux and Max Pac over Perron, the GM should have said we're the Montreal Canadiens, we should take the frenchies. Then you let Trevor do what he wants in later rounds.

At this draft, I wish the Habs would have traded for a 2nd round pick so they would have gotten Roussel. Caron in the first round is another guy I would have traded to try to get.

So I gather you scouted all of these players and didnt just read random reports on the net right? Cause that would only make you a better googler then Timmins.

IMO Kreider would have been a plausible pick at #18 but I'm not unhappy with Leblanc. It certainly elated the fans at the Bell Centre.

you guys are missing the who point that i was trying to make in this thread. yes i am a HUGE habs fan and i have full 100% trush in trevor timmins and the rest of the scouting staff. i am never saying that i am a better scout than they are. i am asking you who you would have picked at each slot or who you really wanted the habs to pick from who was still left on the board.

i am not bashing the habs picks and i am very, very happy with who they had picked. please let me know who you would have picked at each slot. that is all.

It's really on the top of my head because even if I've red about a lot of guys this year, I don't really know most of them.

18th - still a tie between LeBlanc and Schroeder
65th - Birkholz
79th - Benneth
109th - Roy
132th - Varone
169th - Dumont (I would have tried to get him one round later)
199th - Casavant

Fun idea for a thread.

Using my pre-draft wish list...http://hfboards.com/showpost.php?p=2...postcount=1042

18th Overall: Never expected Schroeder to fall so low, I would have taken him.
65th Overall: I would have picked Nattinen as well.
79th Overall: Seth Helgeson
109th Overall: I probably would have picked Anton Burdasov.
138th Overall: Gabriel Dumont
168th Overall: I'm not sure...I had both Alex Fallstrom and Alex Avtsin as possible picks here. Probably would have gone with Steven Anthony.
198th Overall: Viktor Svedberg
211th Overall: Casper Carning - Very surprised he wasn't drafted...

edit: shows what I know lol...3 of these guys didn't even get drafted.

This may sound stupid and somthing probably every single one of you guys know but what exactly is the story on how he ended up in montreal?? was he lured here from the sens or was his contract with the sens simply over? also... are there any noteworthy current nhl players drafted by Timmins?

Seeing as how 99% of us see the majority of the prospects throughout the World very little, i will leave it up to him.

Most people are basing who they want off of write ups and maybe a few games. Once you start getting out of province and further, most fans exposure to the players in the draft is almost next to nothing.

for me, i don't follow prospects deep enough to really comment on anything past the 3rd-4th round, but here's what I thought for the first few picks

i'd have gone:
Leblanc or schroeder... i'd have been happy with either,
Nattinen
Rajala
Roy

Well if I'm true to my list, I would have done it like that:

18-Louis Leblanc
65-Joonas Nattinen
79-Cody Eakin/Lindstrom
109-Alexander Fallstrom
139-Gabriel Dumont (even if Nick Jensen was there....)
169-Steven Anthony (even if I had Walsh in my HM)
199-Marshall Everson or Andrej Stastny
211-David Gilbert or Viktor Svedberg

So first 2 picks are exactly what I wanted. Same for Dumont. Walsh I liked him but preferred other players at that point.

Here's what I would've done....
18 - I would've taken Moore over Schroeder or Leblanc.
** - I woul've tried to trade for another first rounder, which seems like it would've been rather easy on Friday night considering the volume of 1st rounders that were moved. Would've tried for Leblanc, Caron or Palmieri with the second 1st.
65 - Joonas Nattinen is definately a good pick - Promising size for a future center.
79 - Ryan Bourque
109 - Olivier Roy

After that, I would just take random players pretty much.. probably another goalie and a couple of defenders.
