Hedman and TB

Does Hedman turn around the Lightning?

If Hedman is as good as people say I think this makes the Lightning a much much better team, so my vote is yes.

Not immediately but I definitely think so in the next few years.

See, I think next year they will be a good amount higher in the standings in the east.

They have some truely brilliant player, it's not like Hedman has to do it all by himself. He really is a perfect fit for them.

They need better management before they can turn things around.

Not by himself, but the team has done a nice job the last few drafts and this past season through trades of stocking what was a bare cupboard when it came to young talent. Like any rebuilding team it's going to take some time to turn things around, but the future looks better than it did some time ago. This team for the most part has never been strong at drafting or bringing in young talent through trades, it's a reason why they've been bad the last few years. No one has been able to step in and replace the key pieces that have left. It's why Detroit and Jersey have been successful. Hopefully this is something that is changing, especially in the "new" NHL where drafting and having cheap, young talent is more important than ever.

he will help his team for sure. But with that management team, it might be at least a couple more of non playoff years before making it.

That team should have finished higher then they did with some proper management, so it will not only be a Hedman factor if they manage to push for a playoff spot next season.

Tampa Bay has two superstars already and they still sucked. So I really don't see how one more potential superstar could really turn them around by himself.

Obviously he'll make them better (though not necessarily right away; dmen rarely dominate from their rookie season like forwards sometimes do).

They could be cup contenders in a few years if management doesn't drop the ball.

Amazing what horseshoes can do.

I think its the fact that all 3 big names on TB are all O which is why they wanted Hedman.
