Don't forget, though, that Chicago bought out two UFA years with that deal. I'd be surprised if a team wanted to give a player as inconsistent as Stafford such a long-term deal.

When you look at the deal's Filp and Bolland got over the last two years, I find it hard to believe that Stafford will sign for anything less than 3 million long term. probably a 1 year deal in the 2ish range.

Id rather trade him, along with a contract player (Hecht, Tallinder) and get a nice return and some salary space (assumed 5 million-ish) to sign a few veterans like Knuble and Malhotra.

Malhotra is a guy on my radar for us to try and pick up... possibly skating with Goose and Hecht/Paille. Depth center with character, good on faceoffs, speed to check anyone in the league and will chip in the odd, timely goal.

Knuble I have zero use for. my $0.02.

Sign Laperriere, if possible, and put him with Kaleta and Mair.

Ta,

The draft always pulls me back home. And, actually, you're probably playing more than me in recent weeks.

I see things are humming along here as always.

Ta,

p.s. /agree with Regier.... let the market decide what Stafford is worth and if someone is stupid, then take the picks.
