What kind of career will Emery have in Philadelphia?

Flyers fans have nothing to worry about. Rayzor is a terrific goaltender and the only the thing that was missing for him in Ottawa was his maturity, but I think he has overcome that and he will be great for Philly making them the biggest threat in the NHL imo.

Pretty much. Wish we had signed him.

He relies a fair amount on his defence to clear rebounds.

He's more of a first-save goalie and he's good at making that first save, but he'll end up out of position on occasion as a result of it.

If you have a disciplined defence in front of him, he can deliver the goods.

Plus, he won't be intimidated though he does have a temper.

I find Emery is most unstable when he's just given up a goal. He's a bit shaky and then recovers.

Good thing we are overhauling our defense

Yeah, if the team collapses well in front of him, he can do the job.

It's rare for him to outright steal a game but he's done it spectacularly on occasion.

I'm more confident that he'll save us then destroy us (or at least perform decently). He knows he's lucky to be back in the NHL and he won't want to screw that up, especially with a one-year contract. Plus he's coming off a great year in Europe.

You're not satisfied with pascal Leclaire? He might turn out to be the best goalie the franchise has ever had.

as others have said, his biggest weaknesses are rebound control and that he is prone to mental meltdowns.

I'm not too worried about the rebounds behind the flyers defense. He was amazing when we had a good defence, but when redden started to **** the bed and phillips-volchenkov had an off year, he had a ton of trouble. The flyers defense is just the kind of protective defense Ray needs to seem like a great goalie, even if he isnt.

As for the mental thing, i assume that's still something he has to work on. I'm sure he'll still have a couple of bad games, but the flip side of this is that when he is feeling confident, he builds on saves to the point he's practically unbeatable.

How can something rare happen on occasion?

Pronger sounds so damn good when reading that for Philly fans.

Will not be Philly's starter by the end of the season.
