I took St. Louis here, but it's a tough one and pretty close between a few.

cant believe Alfredsson is #17. he is way better than heatley, hossa, nash or even mike richards.

this poll is close between st louis and gaborik.

I'd have to go with Semin, best PPG ratio after the big 3.

But St. Louis isn't afraid to get his nose dirty (he's a nasty little SOB, not a nasty as Theoren Fleury was, but pretty nasty) and he's very good defensively (placed pretty high in Selke voting a few times). Whereas Spezza is notorious for being soft and lazy on D.
FALSE. Spezza is pretty unknown as a goal scorer.

St-Louis : 238 goals in 690 NHL games = avg of 0.34 goal/game

Spezza : 148 goals in 404 NHL games = avg of 0.37 goal/game

Surprising eh? St-Louis is a more dynamic player and definitely in his prime, but Spezza is already a better goal scorer and playmaker, and what would it be in his prime?

Agreed, and what about Parise? I don't understand why after 1 good year, he should be the 11th best forward in the NHL. These boards are too much "what have you done for me lately" mentality. Or is this poll only for the 2008-2009 season???

I'll do my own list i think :

1. Ovechkin
2. Malkin
3. Crosby
4. Datsyuk
5. Iginla
6. Kovalchuk
7. Alfredsson
8. Zetterberg
9. Getzlaf
10. Thornton

11. E.Staal
12. Lecavalier
13. M.Richards
14. Spezza
15. Heatley
16. Hossa
17. St-Louis
18. Nash
19. Parise
20. Savard

Who cares about their career totals? Obviously St. Louis wasn't as good as Spezza when he first started out. Who cares?

Last 3 years:

St Louis: 99 goals, 167 assists, 265 points in 246 games
Spezza: 98 goals, 152 assists, 250 points in 227 games

Last year:

St Louis: 30 goals, 50 assists, 80 points in 82 games
Spezza: 32 goals, 41 assists, 73 points in 82 games

I was wrong that the goals/assists ratio was so different (it was really only a big difference during Spezza's breakout year in 2005-06 when he had 19 goals and 71 assists).

But I was right about everything else. They are pretty damn close offensively overall. And St. Louis is better at everything else (including durability which I did not previously mention).

ok. lets compare Frolov to Carter for example!

Frolov last 4 seasons

2005-2006 Kings 69 21 33 54
2006-2007 Kings 82 35 36 71
2007-2008 Kings 71 23 44 67
2008-2009 Kings 77 32 27 59
0.83 points per game.

Carter last 4 season

2005-2006 Flyers 81 23 19 42
2006-2007 Flyers 62 14 23 37
2007-2008 Flyers 82 29 24 53
2008-2009 Flyers 82 46 38 84

0.70 points per game

so following your logic i can easily say that Carter isnt good enough for that poll so far but Frolov is.
