Seems like Bertuzzi wants to be back with the Flames:
Quote:
His agent, Pat Morris, spoke with the Flames GM briefly at the draft, but Sutter was already pre-occupied with the Bouwmeester business.
"I know Darryl had a lot on his plate," Bertuzzi said. "I just roll with it now. I'll wait till July 1st and on and see what happens from there, I guess."
(...)
And Bertuzzi's not looking for long-term offer, either.
"I'm quite happy playing one year at a time," said Bertuzzi. "It's no stress on me. If anything, it brings the best out of you to be on a term like that -- at least with me, mentally."
Yup, it'd be nice to bring him back would like to see it...
But as Bertuzzi is waiting for a call from Sutter, it's Sutter who's waiting for a call from Bouwmeester and Baltimore. After that happens, then I would presume Sutter looks at his cap space and talks to Bertuzzi.
If Sutter does indeed decide to sign him, I jsut hope that at this point in time, at this very moment, Bertuzzi's at his home/gym, running his*ass off on treadmil somewhere.
He can come back only if his costly penalties cost him in his salary. IE: 10,000 per pad penalty.
So no cap hit? I kid, I kid.
If the price is right (which we don't know what that will be yet) I'm sure it will get done. It good to know an understanding Bertuzzi wants to be back in red, and a one-year deal is perfect on the Flames end as well.
I wouldn't mind actually seeing him back. I have a feeling Joki and him would look on a line together. I really think Bert still has some gas in the tank. And I hate to this but I think he needs top line minutes, because it seems like he thrives in that situation and gets on a roll with increased playing time.

I'd love to see a line of Bertuzzi-Backlund-Jokinen. Let Backlund develop as a center, Jokinen would probably be better on a wing.
