Regarding Kari Lehtonen.....

....What will happen with him this season...I presume he will be the starting goaltender. Did he resign a large contract a year or 2 ago ? Would he test the market next season ?

I think that he is a good goalie...seems to be injured more that i would like but he is a solid goalie who doesnt seem to have a solid defense infront of him to succeed

He signed a 1 year deal last off-season, most likely to prove his worth and get a big check...he got hurt. The thing is, it wasn't his groin that put him down; it was a freak injury involving Kari's back and the flu...or something. He was offered another 1 year deal last week for pretty much the same reason. Hopefully he can prove himself and we lock him up long term.

Qualifying offers are all one-year contracts so many players decline them in order to negotiate a multi-year deal, but by sending out the QO a team retains the rights to that player while they negotiate. QOs can include raises of 10, 5, or zero percent depending on a player’s salary.
