Feels like Landeskog and Adam Larsson would be top 3 for 2010 although not eligeble...
Larsson and Landeskog would certainly be TOP 3, actually TOP 2 if they were eligible. But how often you see 2 players that make their SEL appearence(Landeskog even rocked some guys and made an assist) with 2 years before their draft?
As for 2009 vs 2010, well, there of course wouldn't be 7 1st rounders, but 3-4 are quite possible. Also, it's very deep draft for Sweden, so considering how many draftworthy 2009 eligible players were skipped(Myllari, Svedberg, Wallen, Carning, J.Johansson, Edman, Cehlin, Norman, Ludvig Karlsson) it's very possible that they will top this years 24 players overall.

Jarmo Kekäläinen thinks that Swedes will have a lot of draft picks next year as well: Link to an audio interview (2:23+/5:44)
...So one might think that there could be close to 25 draft picks next year as well, but just by comparing the hype; the players of Hedman's and MPS's caliber are missing at least at the moment. Of course the situation can change if some players start playing regularly in Elitserien or Allsvenskan with good performances. Overall Swedes will face better competition from other European countries next year, so for its own part that might effect the number of Swedes in the first round.

Yes, there are no Hedmans or MPS next season. Pettersson is comparable to Lander, Ohman to Berglund or Backlund, but Ohman is more developed(than Berglund at least).
In 2011 Sweden has at least 2 potential TOP 10 picks though.
Unless his size disqualifies him, William Wallén could probably be drafted. With a serious injury destroying much of last season he could only show flashes of his potential.
I was also surprised by this. It's actually a bit of a mystery to me. I think he's a very good prospect, better than many swedes who got drafted.
I would have taken Styrman ahead of Ekbom, Almkvist and Ekholm and maybe Kruger but that's probably it. Blomkvist is a nice prospect with great size same for Andersson. Others are clearly ahead of Styrman.

One could only agree with Jarmo. The draft looks deep from a swedish perspective, especially now with all the talented youngsters that went undrafted added to the mix.
So we have:
Cehlin, Wallén
L Karlsson, Styrman
Svedberg, Myllari
Norman, Wannstrom
M Karlsson, Carning
Wiklund, Edman

Lot's of players that i forgott. H.Gustafsson is another one.
Hampus is on a small side though. He is not that skilled to make up for that IMO. Sure he's, gritty, but he is kinda like Freddie Pettersson to me. Pretty skilled, gritty, but too small for NHL.

Here was some insight given by NHL.com on a few top players from Sweden. Given their high praise I'm surprised these Alm and Jarnkrok were on your HM list Garl.
Quote:
"Sweden produced seven players taken in the first round of the '09 draft, and will have a number of top-end players this season that bear watching."
Among them is Skelleftea defenseman Johan Alm. The 6-2, 194-pounder had 3 points and a plus-10 rating in six games at the under-18 level, which earned him a 27-game promotion to the under-20 level, where he had 2 points and a minus-12 rating.

Any other candidates?
How about Robert Thellberg? I don't believe he was drafted.
Brothers with Viktor, eh? He could probably get a look just because of that, so then scouts can see how his game is. What type of player is he now/projected out to be? And seeing that he is going the NCAA route (to UVM, hopefully my school next year), that could attract some teams as well seeing that his brother also did very well there.
I've never seen him myself but i've heard good things about a young defender in Timrå called Joel Östman. Not having seen him myself i don't know how high i would place him but perhaps a later round pick wouldn't be out of the question. He seems to have some potential.

Heard many good things about him aswell. Also, he had quite a decent season in J20 on a crappy team last year. And of course, size will help him at the draft, 190/91 is very big for his age.
Just wondering if Erik Karlsson's brother Pelle is skilled enough to be considered in this year's upcoming draft. Also anyone know where he will be playing this coming season?
