What to do for Free Agency

Now that we have bouwmeester signed.. how much cap space do we have left and what should we get from free agency with it? IMO i think we should try and get a top 6 forward

I think that at the moment, we're somewhere around 52.2 million, so we still have roughly 5 million at our disposal to either sign Boyd and Pardy, or else replace them.

I'll gamble on the following guys on a 1 year contract if they want to come here cheap and turn their career around

- Maxime Afinogenov
- Erik Christensen
- Brenden Morrison
- Radek Dvorak
- Kyle Calder
- Steve Sullivan (may not be cheap)
- Mike Sillinger
- Mike Knuble
- Todd Bertuzzi

Yeah i know they all have issues but we need some offense help...

dvorak, calder, morrison, and christensen shouldnt be considered. the flames need offensive talent, not more 3 line players

I could see Sutter moving some more salary and resigning Bert. If they do and add a youngster like Backlund, that lineup looks pretty solid no matter how worried everybody seems to be about scoring.

Agree sign Bert to a 1 yr deal, we know what were getting............... Im curious to know what it would cost to sign Clowe from SJ as I think he would be a perfect fit here

yeah but where do you get offensive talent with the cap space they have left?

3rd line players that can contribute a bit of offense by committee may be enough

Brendan Morrison or Todd Bertuzzi. One of them will be a Flame tommorow.

I guess a plausible solution, although unlikely, is to maybe sign both of these guys and move a contract like Langkow's? Not sure how popular it would be but it could save some money?

Langkow $4.5 million?

Bertuzzi 2 million? Morrison 1.5 million? A little reunion?

Save 1 million, ship Primeau down, save another 1.4 million... 2.4 in total...

Sutter still has options. I'm sure he'll come up with something.

Our defence and goaltending is set right now. Obviously we need a cheap forward or two. Lots of options out there and I'm sure Sutter has his eye on a couple players. I still think Bert could be back if he comes cheap enough.

Yeah if Bert takes a deal like Conroy did, say 1.0 - 1.5 range just to stay on a team that he enjoys and now appears to be a legit contender with a boosted D... sure he would do that. Or he could hope Kevin Lowe gets Tamb to sign him for $4.0 lol
