CKAC's Yvon Pedneault just said that Kovalev's agent has denied the 2-year, $8.8 million deal. So, this is a false rumor for now.

CKAC just said it's not confirmed. Kovy's agent said the deal is not done.

I'm surprised Habs fans are this excited to get him back. Woops, deal might not be true anyway.

Which Kovalev are we going to see? The 2007-2008 Kovy, or the 2008-2009 Kovy?

After the Habs picking up Gomez's contract I think this was a reasonable question.

Yeah, that's it I've watched it twice and it's the only French media tv channel I get

If RDS has nothing about hockey, then I'm not sure where he could be watching it

So if Kovalev is still listening to offers, this would mean that he'd cost even more than the reported $4.4M cap hit?

The Kovalev with good linemates.

When all thing worked great with Plekanec and A. Kostitsyn in 07-08, Kovalev was an absolute beast.

In 08-09, Plekanec played almost all season like a little girl while A. Kostitsyn was very inconsistent. And when Kovalev was put on the same line with Koivu and Tanguay in the end of the season, he got 16pts in 7 games.

Kovalev is not good enough to make his teammates better but with good linemates, he is still one hell of a player.

And Kovalev has never disppointed in the playoff for the Habs.

Wanna know why Bob McKenzie is the best in the business? Because he's not afraid to be beaten on a story, so he actually does a little journalism and looks into these things before rushing to confirm someone else's report. Kudos to him again.

NHL.com quoting Sportsnet saying Kovalev has re-signed, 2 years/$9m.

It was posted at 2:11pm which is after all the denials from Kovalev's agent, so it could be legit...or they could still be quoting that bogus report from earlier today.

hahahaha if it's true. What is it with this city and Kovalev? The people in Montreal have a serious hard on for him and I STILL DON'T KNOW WHY.

he'll have 1 good season and pack it in for the other.

I say season 1 he does poorly, season 2 he actually plays.
