oh god

OH GOD.

To that extent, Tallon didn't rule out the possibility of signing former defenseman Chris Chelios, who was told by the Red Wings on Monday that he would not return with Detroit after 10 years there. The Chicago native was a mainstay with the Hawks during the 1990s and at 47 is the NHL's oldest player.

"I'm sure Chris will be calling and I'm sure we'll be talking," Tallon said. "We have other things to take care of before we get into that. I love Chris, he's a great guy. He might help our young guys, who knows? We haven't discussed anything with anyone yet."

I can see the horror on everyone's faces on this. But he has to be better than Walker... He did say that he wants to return to the Blackhawks organization, whether or not it is as a player. A Hall of Fame D-Man is never a bad thing to have associated with your organization.

As an ambassador, the door is open. As a player, that door shut long ago. The only way he can skate upright still is because his hockey stick doubles as a cane.

Maybe he can come back and reopen Cheli's bar on Madison St. that has been sitting dormant for 10+ years.

I don't think he is.

I think some pylons actually beat Chelios to a puck in some game practices last year.

The guy is just not capable of playing NHL hockey anymore. It happens to everyone eventually.

I need to remember to do this more often...

I don't really want either he nor Walker. I wouldn't mind him back in an ambassador or defensive consultant role.

If so, let's have an HFBoards bubble hockey tournament.

I think having him signed to the league min. and playing him 20-30 games this season could really help bring along our young guys. If nothing else, he's a leader and wears the love of the game on his sleeve. Not to mention he's my all time fav...

I love Chelios but I hate great players who don't have the sense to quit and end up making fools of themselves. Thats what is happening here.

No. No. No. No. NO! How in HELL can you expect Chicago to welcome back someone who jumped ship to go to DETROIT!? Not to mention someone who is nearly 50 years old?! Seriously... SERIOUSLY?! We are worried about having the cap room to sign Kane/Toews, but we are considering bringing Chelios back!? What the ????

While I can't stand to be away from hockey all season (and thus cannot find it in my heart to boycott the team), I *will* be bringing a sign to EVERY game proclaiming the suckiness of both Chelios AND his chilli... and I will boo to my hearts' delight every time he touches the ice. I fear he WILL be back so he can "retire a Blackhawk".. but I will NOT be happy about it.
