7th D I guess. Gillis wants to plug these holes cheap to see how much room he has to throw at a big fish?

I won't judge this as I've never heard of Aaron Rome. Maybe it's a depth Moose signing (yeah, I know it's a 1 way deal) but maybe he starts there and fights for a roster spot...?

From Hockey Future

Talent Analysis

Rome is a self-described stay at home defenseman who can add a little offense. He is a strong skater with great positioning and solid puck-handling and passing skills. With his exceptional vision and awareness he can anticipate the play. His offensive game and shot from the point has improved as he has seen increased powerplay time. He can be physical when necessary and plays with a bit of an edge.

Future

His window of opportunity is quickly closing.

D depth for the Canucks but I'm sure he's going to the Moose, no big deal. Either that or there is a trade coming down the pipe.

Rome is a big, tough defenceman. He's had a lot of good seasons in the AHL, but he's never been able to consistently make the jump to the NHL level (best season was 17 games in 2007).

Not a bad option as an 8th defenceman, but I'm a bit surprised he's on a one-way deal.

See now that the Sedins and Luongo will be taking up 20mil in cap space for the next 5 years we can only sign players nobody else has heard of.

Get used to it.

I have never even heard of this guy. He can't be any good if he didn't make the Jackets full time.

The guy has played 26 games in the NHL, not really impressed with this move. Davison would've been much better at the same or equal price.

#7-8 defenseman. Meh.

Wtf? One way deal? Ugh. In that case, I guess he's our #7.

Decent for a #7, he's tough and can contribute offensively. Not crazy about giving him a one-way deal, though.
