Multiple Teams Pursuing RFA D-Man Matt Hunwick

WEEI's Joe Haggerty recently posted the following on Twitter: "I can tell you that Hunwick's agent is getting a lot of phone calls right now. And they're not coming from the Bruins."

It's only the beginning for offer sheets for all the Bruins RFAs.

i like him but will be pretty pricey if that many teams are after him in an rfa situation

Hopefully not the Isles. The last thing we need are small defensemen.

Well, I'm sure we'll be fine without our best goal scorer and our only mobile D man.

I have no idea why he is letting people even try to offer Hunwick a contract. This kid is amazing.

Guessing 2nd rounder provided offersheet is between 1.3M - 2.6M... probably why there's so much interest in him. Normally a team would just match such an offer, but Boston is in bad way with the cap... match Hunwick, and it's pretty much guareenteed they won't be able to match an offersheet for Kessel.

Either lose Hunwick for 2nd or lose Kessel for 1st+2nd+3rd... or it's possible they lose both.

I think they match anything under the 1st and 3rd threshold of ~2.6. As much as I like Hunwick, a 1st and 3rd would be a solid return if anyone goes higher.

He's a good young mobile puck moving defenseman, but not a top pairing guy. I think you'd be crazy to pay him close to 3 million and give up a 1st and 3rd for him.

I'm starting to think Chia values Hunwick around 2m/yr and is planning to match an offer and use that as his excuse to not match on Kessel. Get the feeling he wants more grit on his top lines. Just the vibe he is giving lately.

I think you can go up to 3M per and only have to give up a 2nd.

$994,433 or below None
Over $994,433 to $1,506,716 Third-round choice
Over $1,506,716 to $3,013,434 Second-round choice

Over $4,520,150 to $6,026,867 First-round, second-round and third-round choice

Over $7,533,584 Four first-round choices

3MM for the 1st and 3rd. The offer sheet table isnt based on the cap but average league salary, which went up considerably this past season.

Didn't see that. Still, an extra $400k doesn't change things all that much, I'd expect them to match until the return is a 1st and 3rd.

I could see a team like Ottawa offering $4.5m; if they legitimately believe they can:
A) Make the playoffs.
B) Compete.
