Good lord is Philly ever going to get top tier goaltending?

They must really be banking on Emery to take them all the way...scary.

yikes.
Yeah, where have you been?

Emery-Boucher is better then most.

I've already saved this thread to bump later on.

so philly really trusts emery that he won't fail
imo, boucher is only good for 20-25 games per season

Boucher was solid in small doses for SJ last year. He's a good back up but I wouldnt look at him as a tandem goalie.

I think it'll be good.

He was my favorite player his first go-round, but even after taking out my bias I think the goaltending will be just fine.

Why?
Because Paul Holmgren is an idiot. Despite what his apostles will say when they will surely come in here and tear me to shreds (even though I was pretty spot on about the fortunes of the team last year)

This could work out, how many that Detroit was gonna flop cause Ozzy, and they made it to game 7 of the finals.

I'll take either these guys over him
Actually Biron was pretty solid. He was inconsistent at times, but for the most part he was doing fine. The defense in front of him was a bigger issue than Marty.

There's more to it, the numbers don't add up.

Emery, Boucher - 2.4M?
Biron, Niitty - 5M?

Thank you. I always liked Boucher.

This is going to be nutty having an entirely different goaltending duo this season.

Rolling the dice on erratic but potentially good bargain goalies did not work well for Washington last season, Philly is hoping for better with even bigger bargain goalies.

Boucher was signed to be a back-up...which is what he is. If Emery fails...they will go after another goalie to be a #1. How about giving Emery a chance first before everyone tears him down.

What was I wrong about?

- The Flyers were a 5th place team in the conference (I predicted them to be 4th).

- Luca Sbisa was thrown in the deep end of the pool (obvious, despite the all-star caliber of play he displayed according to our coaching staff and GM).

- Ossi Vaananen was not the worst player ever (we played our best hockey when he was playing top pairing with TIMONEN)

- Dan Carcillo is an idiot if not borderline insane (more than proved that).

- The Flyers were totally overrated judging by their record, and found ways to lose games on a consistent basis the entire 2nd half of the season (won 9 games vs. playoff teams between Christmas and Easter).

- The Penguins were far and away better than the Flyers in almost every aspect and we didn't really have that good of a chance based on the way we play since we were more concerned about how big and tough we were, which turned into long bouts of
utterly stupid play. (I said Penguins in 5, it was Penguins in 6).

-Randy Jones is not an NHL player (and should have been LTIR'd the whole season).

- Matt Carle is a liability and is not a good defenseman who had a bloated contract (subsequently, everyone wants him on the plane out of town right behind Randy Jones')

What was I wrong about this season?
