- Ossi Vaananen was not the worst player ever (we played our best hockey when he was playing top pairing with Pitkanen)

- Dan Carcillo is an idiot if not borderline insane (more than proved that).

- The Flyers were totally overrated judging by their record, and found ways to lose games on a consistent basis the entire 2nd half of the season (won 9 games vs. playoff teams between Christmas and Easter).

- The Penguins were far and away better than the Flyers in almost every aspect and we didn't really have that good of a chance based on the way we play since we were more concerned about how big and tough we were, which turned into long bouts of
utterly stupid play. (I said Penguins in 5, it was Penguins in 6).

-Randy Jones is not an NHL player (and should have been LTIR'd the whole season).

What was I wrong about this season?
Pitkanen doesn't play for the Flyers.

I still can't get behind Philly for the Cup with a goalie tandem like that.

I think this is a decent move. Most flyer fans knew when we came to agreement with Emery that he was going to be our new starting goalie. We all knew Biron was going to be gone for what he was asking, we know Niitty is a career back up due to his endurance and hip issues. So signing Boucher is a pretty solid move for us. He is a legit backup goalie. Emery is our starter and I think he will be just as good as Biron was, which isnt saying much. He could even be better then Biron was. I still believe the Flyers will try to pursue a younger goalie like Schnieder or Halak in the future.

Ummm ...??? When did this happen?

Anyone who believes that Carcillo cost game 6 is everything you claim Carcillo to be, and more.
And, of course, you completely contradict yourself. Either the Pens were "were far and away better than the Flyers in almost every aspect " or the fate of the series rested not on talent and execution, but the emotions generated from a fight.
Can't have it both ways.

Game 6 was 1 game in a 6-game series where the Penguins were the better team.

DRW play tight disciplined team D that makes the goalie's job much easier. DRW usually control the puck, and usually outshoot the opponent by a wide margin.

flyers spend too much time in their own end, and allow too many shots, PP's, and scoring chances.

in '08, flyers allowed the 4th most shots (less than only LAK, florida and atlanta).
in '09, flyers allowed the 6th most shots (less than only edmonton, florida, atlanta, TB, NYI).

(notice none of the teams that allowed more SA than the flyers made the playoffs.)

in '08, flyers were 3rd worst in times SH.
in '09, flyers were 2nd worst in times SH.

There is no way you can name 10, probably not 5 teams with a worse goaltending situation then those two.

- Matt Carle is a liability and is not a good defenseman who had a bloated contract (subsequently, everyone wants him on the plane out of town right behind Randy Jones')

What was I wrong about this season?
i think you started strong there but you got a little carried away tooting your own horn

vanaanen was a vanilla defenseman and he served his purpose in being a placeholder for parent.

being a lil insane is a good thing for guys who play the more physical style of hockey.

theres far worse guys then randy jones collecting checks from nhl teams. yeah he makes too much but hes a solid 3rd pairing guy. and yeah he shoulda staye on ltir.

matt carle is a good defenseman on a bloated contract.

concern over how big and tough we are was completely justified as it was our inability to cycle down low, clear the crease and gain and maintain puck posesseion that ultimately was the difference between us and pittsburgh.

go flyers!!!
