Quote:
Laperriere does give the club another veteran presence in the room, and he’s a guy who hates losing, a mental state of mind that seems to be lacking among many of the Flyers’ younger players.

“I was surprised that a couple of teams from the Eastern Conference came after me,” Laperriere said on his cell phone. “I spent most of my career in the West. It’s always nice and you’re flattered, by yes, I was a little surprised by the Flyers.

“They are a physical, high-tempo team. I think maybe I can bring some grit and character to the team. That’s what the Flyer are all about. When my agent told me they put a deal on the table, I was excited to play for them.”

Laperriere has will find a familiar face here: defenseman Chris Pronger. They spent two years together in St. Louis. Laperriere has been on four previous clubs and is a close friend of Briere, who was text-messaging him Thursday afternoon.

“Other than playing with Chris Pronger, this is new teammates, new challenges,” Laperriere said.

So now we are guaranteed to set the record on most team PIM in a season.

Ummm definitely wasn't expecting this. Not even sure if this is worth it. Would rather see Larose or Beauchemin before I saw Lapierre

I think GKJ actually called this one? Or mentioned it?

Why Homer did this one?No idea. Kind of asking my self. WTF? Probably cause of Brash to NYR?

This guy is a good player. I'm not sure why we signed him for 3 years but he can actually play he's not just a goon

How is he defensively? Should be a good fit on a defensively oriented third line.

Homer loves the idea of the Philly Flu

So we now have Cote, Asham, Carcilio and Laperriere. Someone is not playing next year on the Flyers.

I agree with both of you, however, I am not sure it is really what we needed. This team is very short on cap space, we need to address the holes first.

Asham, Carcillo play the same role, just might not be the leader that Lap is....

We still need a center that can win a faceoff more than 50% of the time...

It seems like all the Avs fans love him. It seems he can take a regular shift on the third line and play penalty kill. Sounds like a nice signing.
