The worst part about the whole thing?

Neil adds absolutely nothing to our team.

Our top six:

? - Spezza - Alfredsson
? - Fisher - ?
Shannon - Kelly - Foligno
Winchester - Zach Smith - Ruutu
Donovan

That's not even considering Bass, or Regin... And Foligno/Shannon aren't true top six guys right now. Where do you fit Neil in? Successful teams don't pay $2m for enforcers. He has 10 career points. He's a liability defensively. And we have him for four more years? Great.

What's worse, is if this Heatley trade goes down, we'll have Cogliano and Penner... Neither of which are great second line guys.. but even if you slide them into those spots, we have no first line forward anymore... and Gaborik, Hossa, Callamari, Gionta and everyone worth adding, except maybe Tanguay, is gone.

Just great.

Neil used the Rangers offer to get $300k more per year from Murray.

He didn't want to leave.

Neil does what he's told and plays a sound up and down game with offencive upside. $2 mil is fine with me but it doesn't seem like there is anyone else of worth left to sign or deal for

Murray better redeem himself by signing Havlat or Tanguay.

Needs to clear room though.

Didn't the Senators turn down 1.7 Million to sign him before free agency?

I believe Neil turned down $1.7 million a year. He wanted $2.5 to begin with.

Ottawa Makes Neil Deal At Last Second
Chris Neil was considering an offer from the New York Rangers before Ottawa swooped in at the last second. The Senators had told Neil all along they weren't moving off of their $1.75 offer. Things obviously changed from there. Ottawa was Neil's preference all along and he shows his loyalty by re-signing.

So, I propose we trade Chris Neil to New York + Dany Heatley for Marian Gaborik.

When this is your biggest signing of the day, you know you had a bad day. I hope Murray pulls a rabbit out of his hat and signs an impact player tomorrow or later today.

Thanks Ottawa. I was worried when Toronto's name came up in talks with him.

I'm fully on the fire Murray bandwagon now. This organization has become a circus under his management.
