Ha. I said this same thing about 10 years ago.

I said once, I say it again....I am not surprised....Lombardi set us up for this at the ST meeting 2 weeks back.

for some reason i just dont like tanguay, he jut doesnt seem like he would excel with us if he couldnt in Calgary or Mtl. i guess it would really depend on the numbers but he would be plan d in my book.

I'm ok with were we are at right now. Ya it would be nice to have a flashy new player to talk about yada yada yada. We should resign Fro and JJ. I'm sure DL has a plan, and he is following it, Personally I don't want Havlat. He is a good Tier 2 to me. Id rather stand pat this year and go for Kovy or Gagne. There are moves to be made just not through UFA's. Stay the course boys, stay the course. We have a good core building up here, when we are ready to contend, really contend ala Chi-Town, DL will spend the big bucks. But not until then.

Just too big of a risk for Gaborik at 7.5 for the next 5 seasons. Re-sign Frolov for 4-5, JJ for 2-3 and make a couple minor moves or signings.

Would signing Havlat forgive all? would everyone renew with Havlat signed? to me Havlat is a bigger risk then Gaborik so i just cant see DL signing him.

If you think Frolov will sign for that low amount of money in this market, on this team, you are totally mad.

Shut out means he's been trying to sign players but none of them have accepted any of our deals. Don't try and tell me you know whats been going on behind the scenes around the NHL today. You have no clue what DL has done or not done, who's he's talked to or hasn't talked to, who was close to signing here and who wasn't. Maybe he offered Gaborik 4 years at $80 million dollars but he wanted a 5 year deal instead so he chose New York. You have no clue and don't try to tell me otherwise....

Havlat was my #1 that I wanted...so I'm still hoping but have LITTLE faith. I wanted Havlat and Beauchemin..both are still out there at this point.

Cammy just signed for 6m, next year Fro is not going to be a King (fro will get 6.5 easy imo).

The bright side...

Money saved not only on tickets and parking, but also on the ridiculously overpriced food and drink at Staples.

I am not a season ticket holder, mainly because of location, but if I were I'm not sure I would renew after this many bad seasons. I don't blame you at all.

I have season tickets to the Angels and I am a completely satisfied customer, they have never given me any reason at all to cancel, I don't think the Kings could say the same for you.

It's asinine that people actually think that free agents don't want to sign here. They do, but Dean looks to be too gun-shy to help the team get over this bump. He's so hung up on constructing the future cap of the team while others build and deal around him.

I don't know, I'm pretty irate right now. DL is good at building a team from the ground up, but he falters when it comes to signing key players.

Maybe re-sign Fro and call it a day?

Actually I'm not too bummed about the Kings not doing anything so far. Because I have not seen one good deal. Everyone's been overpaid and that's what usually happens on the first day. From now on, I hope we end up getting that sniper we need on our team. Havlat's still available, not an ideal kind of sniper, but he's still young and talented. 4 year deal, nothing more.

If we can sign Havlat and Moen, then re-sign JMFJ and Frolov, I'm happy.

We deal with "what" when "what" happens. No sense racking our brains on what to do without Frolov until Frolov is on his way out.

Montreal has an interesting trend going. They are overspending and getting smaller:

Gomez 5'11" 7 whatever million a yr
Cammalleri 5'8" 6 million a yr
Gionta 5'4" 5 million a yr.

That's 18 million a yr committed to 3 small forwards.

Are there any players under 5'4" they can pay 3+ million for?

And they let go of Komisarek. He was too big apparently.

.

Like, okay, I freaked when I first saw Gaborik to the Rangers on Dreger's twitter when he had the cap hit at 5.75. 7.5 is more understandable. I'm still pissed, though.

The number one thing that I keep thinking about is that there is absolutely no motivation for me to watch the Kings next year. None. If we're going into 09/10 with the same squad and banking on Kopitar being in better shape, there's just no reason for me to watch. A Gaborik signing would at least have amped everyone up and sold some seats. And I know, I know, our goal is to win the Cup, not sell seats. But can anyone on this entire board honestly sit here and tell me you think this current team, plus a few years of experience, will win the Cup?

I dunno, man. I was of the opinion that this offseason was of the utmost importance in filling that ONE hole. We were truly on the cusp last season. A Gaborik would have put this team over the hump.

As far as right now goes, I probably won't be watching many games on TV and certainly not spending any money to drive my happy ass from Vegas to LA to catch a few games throughout the year.
