Team Canada camp invitees

http://www.ctvolympics.ca/hockey/new...tml?cid=rsstsn

Flyers:
Gagne(So much for JXC's "he wont even get considered for it")
Richards
Carter
Pronger

Coburn doesnt make camp. Maybe next time.

I think Pronger and Richards are locks, Gagne(Been there twice before) has a good chance and Carter is a long shot

Oh and we have no USA camp invitees. Knuble not invited either
http://www.ctvolympics.ca/hockey/new...ic+camp+roster

No surprise really, Carle is our only notable American

Somehow it totally weirded me out to read "Michael Richards".

I think Gagne will get a long look due to the fact that there wasn't many natural wingers invited (12 in total, 13 centers invited - although I am not sure if Teows is a winger or not, if he is a winger then there are 13 invited)

Of course, they will just shift some centers to the wing I am sure.

However I can't see Pronger and Richards not making this team.

Gagne was a lock. He's was on one of Canada's best lines EVER.

Best odds of making it:

Gags
Cannon
Pronger
JC

I think Richards, Gagne, and Pronger are all locks. Gagne is a natural winger, a 4th line of Morrow-Richards-Doan is just too awesome at defending to pass up, and Pronger has played in three Olympics before, they need a big guy like him. A top pairing of Niedermayer-Pronger would be awesome.

I think Carter needs to start the season red hot to have a chance at making it.

I'm a little surprised Stamkos wasn't invited just for the experience. He played well at the Worlds, but it wasn't best-on-best; he'd learn a lot from the training camp, even if he wasn't going to make the final cut.

Carter won't make Team Canada as a centre and I think that hurts his chance of making the team at all. It would be a shame to leave the highest (goal) scoring Canadian in 08/09 off the team, though.

As long as the bionic frenchman doesnt get injured early in the season I think hes a lock. I'm looking forward to the next games to see Giroux out there!

I think once Hockey Canada gets a hold of a name, it just sticks. He was "Michael" all the way through junior - never Mike until he hit the Flyers.

I'd bet on Gagne, Pronger and Richards being on the team. Carter/Getzlaf were amazing together at the WJC, but haven't played on the same line since. But that's a possible, depending on injuries and whatnot to some of the other forwards.

Who was the other player on the line with Carter and Getzlaf at the WJC tournament? I could see Team Canada putting together a line of Carter and Getzlaf. Would certainly make for interesting.

Yeah maybe if Thornton is cut for having no heart and heatley is cut for being a ********

Something like

Nash-Crosby-Iginla
Gagne-Lecavalier-St. Louis
Morrow-Richards-Doan
Toews-Getzlaf-Carter
Eric Staal

Pronger-Jbo
Keith-Neidermeyer
Boyle-Regher
Phaneuf/Weber

Luongo
Brodeur
Ward/Fleury

Brent Burns, before Minnesota turned him into a defenseman. It was a fun line to watch - big, fast, and skilled. Carter set or tied a WJC record for goals in a tournament that year (someone who has a memory will be able to confirm which).

Unfortunately, I don't see them together again. But Hover's idea of Toews would be just as much fun to watch, I think.

getz heater and nash is guaranteed to be a line....they had 47 points in 9 games at the WC.....richards doan and morrow i would assume is the fourth line barring any injuries...that leaves 2 lines for gags and jc

i really hope gags makes it that would be awesome....richards has the best chance of making it just bc he will play the checking role. pronger has a very good chance bc of his physical presence. i think jeff will be left out this time around bc canada is crazy deep at center and jeff isnt well suited to be a winger imo
