Why is there no KHL contract offers when we need them, hey?

Yandle was not a liability, at all, last season and is steadily improving in all areas of his game. Last season he and Jovo were tied in points per game by defensemen. If our head coach was less of a complete and total MORON Yandle would've had a break out season. You want to talk about Phoenix improving, firing our idiot coach bumps us up at least three or four spots in the West, all on it's own, with nothing else considered.

Wrong, Maloney said the exact opposite and that he wanted more of a veteran presence. In fact, IIRC he said Porter was the only guy he said had a good chance of making the big squad this year.

Yup, I meant to type "Neither said they wouldn't be signing 30-year-olds this summer". My bad.

Then send a 2-year $500k per deal back to us (you choose the player), and it's a deal!

3 pages and we still don't have a dollar amount so everyone can come on here and say "how can a bankrupt team overpay the old bum by that much?".

I never understood why players who have 1-2 yrs left in them go play for teams that have no chance in hell to get anywhere near the cup. Is it about the money? Climate? Having a chance to teach young guys? I dunno, for me it'd always be about winning.
Probably easier to get traded at the deadline if they show they can still offer something. All the top teams pretty much have their roster set. If a player can't go to a winning team, and wants to kick the can for at least another year, you hook up with any team that will give you ice time, and come the deadline, with teams looking for depth, you're available. It doesn't always work, but then the player ends up playing for another year or two, and still collecting a damn fine check.

you aren't getting it... the Flames have limited cap space and have a couple roster spots to fill, adding $1 million for any 1 roster player even with salary going back is not going to help, only him on re-entry waivers would help

Is there some injury or substance abuse problem, or something like that, we're not aware of? Why would anyone come to Phoenix unless we doubled the next highest bid? There were really NO teams willing to beat that?

I have no idea why Phoenix to be honest, he has been healthy since coming to Calgary... he is former teammates with guys like Lombardi, Vandermeer, Jovanovski and Hale so perhaps maybe one of them sold him on Phoenix?... I've also heard that the real estate market in Arizona is insanely bad and you can get houses for incredibly cheap... perhaps he promised his wife a winter home in Phoenix and is a bit frugal

I'm a bit skeptical. Yandle had ridiculously easy matchups last year and still do not post good ESGA/60 numbers. For comparisons sake, Ken Klee had a similar competition level yet allowed one full goal less per 60 minutes of even strength ice time.

Dude, just watch hockey. It's not a math equation. **** happens for different reasons that you can't plug into your calculator. Just watch enough that you know what you are looking at, and then trust your own eyeballs.

not only that but that one is just inaccurate... its a formula made up by some fan... Adrian Aucoin last season played on our shutdown pairing with Regehr for pretty close to half the season... and was our #2 defenseman in PK minutes... I fail to see how his competition was so soft

Yotes fans I do really think you will be happy with Aucoin, I would have loved for him to return to Calgary but we just couldnt afford to keep him
