Sweet. Still $10 Million on the cap table to fill 2-3 holes.

I didn't know it was possible but, Gillis has managed to make Free Agency LESS interesting for Canucks fans than Dave "Handsunderass" Nonis.

Thank God he's actually good at drafting and developing.

Nycholat was a Senator, Canuck, Flame, and Avalanche last year. He was also a Moose.

At least the Moose D and our D depth is pretty good. The Moose coulda used Nycholat in the Finals.

When I read the title, I thought it said Bouwmeester instead of Baumgartner.

Good guys to have on the Moose I guess.

Woo...big signings. Lawrence Nycholat!!! He's our stud puck-moving defenseman

Anyone else depressed that Alex Tanguay is the best UFA available?

I know. I thought Bouwmeester, Gaborik, Hossa, and Niedermayer all wanted to sign here!

Not when you take a look back at all the big splash UFA signings and then what teams actually won the Cup.

True. The Pens signed superstars such as Satan and Fedotenko last season.

Why does that matter? That was do to coaching/injuries more than due to UFA signings.

And went on to win the Cup - how does that refute my point? Look back even further and what was the big splash UFA signing for Detroit, Anaheim, Carolina, etc.

Well Pittsburgh's Cup win couldn't have had anything to do with the acquisitions of Chris Kunitz and Bill Guerin, could it?

Given the prices that UFAs have been going for this offseason, I really could care less.

You really want Gaborik for $7.5million for 5 years?

It had more to do with firing their coach.

And those weren't free agency signings, those were deadline deals.

They were contributing factors, but the Canucks could in theory add players of that caliber in season as well.

However, any Pittsburgh/Vancouver comparison is flawed as the composition of the teams are obviously very different.

Gillis was really saving his wad it looks like.

Maybe the Canucks are going to play with 2 forwards and 3 D on the ice.

Were they UFA's acquired before the season began - which was the orignal point? No, so I am not sure what you are arguing.

The annual trade deadline freak out is an entirely different discussion. Were those 2 guys the marquee names dealt at the deadline?

So what does that have to do with the UFA period? Your logic just blindly bumps into whatever happens to be in its path, doesn't it?

What are you talking about?? Its pretty clear that these are depth signings, likely with 2 way contracts, and all 3 are likely going to play on the Moose.

All are familiar with the Canuck-Moose organization... i don't see how this can be seen as a detriment to our organization.
