Kings Sign Scuderi to a 4 year, $3.4MM/Season Contract

as per Pen's beat writer, Rob Rossi.

"Rob Scuderi has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Kings, he confirms via text."

The Los Angeles Kings are going to be re-named the "U.S. Olympic Team Hopefuls" soon at this rate.

Dustin Brown with Jonathan Quick, and Jack Johnson who is probably going to be lining up as Scuderi's defense partner now on the Kings and the Olympic team.

Fun.

Works for me. Hope the terms are good.

Next, trade Teubert for a fwd. And forget this Biron nonsense.

Well, this shores up one need. Scuderi showed his value in the Stanley Cup. He's a defensive defenseman, eats up top 4 minutes and will help solidify the back line.

Nice job Deano.

Now what do we do about scoring more goals?

If true, cool I was hoping for him. Nice pick up. Makes us better on the back end.

Depth signing? I think he's more than that.
Maybe I'm just a Scuderi fan, like I said, I wanted him a year ago when it looks like the Pens might have cap problems and need a forward, but I prefer Scuderi to Komisarek.

There you go Deano, ive been wanting this signing for Scuderi for awhile. Veteran, Stanley Cup winner, defensively responsibly.

Now THIS is a nice signing. Good job DL. Perfect fit for Terry Murray & Co. IMO. I hope the terms make sense and expect that they will.

Maybe the best of it is... he held the Stanley Cup Champions at arm's length while he dealt with "the team no free agent wants to go to."

Good article on Scuderi: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hocke...-scuderi_N.htm

Quote:
"On a 5-on-3 situation, he's the best defender in the front of the net in the National Hockey League, and I've been saying that for two years," said former Penguins player Bob Errey, now a television analyst for the team.

Errey said Scuderi is at his best in penalty-killing situations because he takes away the cross-crease pass and always seems to know where everyone is on the ice. He earned high praise during the Penguins' second-round series against the Washington Capitals for the work he did against Alex Ovechkin.

Anything that cements Preissing's butt anywhere other than the Kings line-up.

This is more than a "depth signing" by far.

Scuderi is a very good, smart player. You guys will love him. He is all about his teammates. I'm sure he didn't come cheap, but he is a solid veteran who will help out the young d...

I like the signing a lot.

-American Born/NCAA
-Physical Defenseman
-Can be the defensive minded guy that compliments doughty (scuderi shoots L)
-Brings a tough strong work ethic to the rink every day.
-Good example for the kids, good character guy.
-2xFinals appearance + 1 stanley cup ring
-knows what it's like to come up with an emerging organization

Kind of wanted Beauchimen more since he has some more offensive upside, but Scuderi is a warrior, and I likes me some warriors on the ice.

Wow, didn't know that he is already 30. Ouch. Could be another Handzus/Preissing contract situation.
