Kronwall is cool. Unspectacular but underrated.

He won't step on the ice in Calgary, I think.

Hope he gets a shot. One-way deal?

Would have been nice to keep him, but he wasn't going to get a fair chance in Washington.

Good luck Kronner, and thanks for the Calder Cup!

Dammit.

Wanted him back with the Caps organization...but I doubt he could get a one way deal here or even have a legimate shot at making the team with the existing players under contract.

He was great in the Calder Cup playoffs...all situations guy.

Good signing if he can get some ice time with that defense.

Good for Staffan. I still don't understand why people were calling him a worthless nothing of a prospect when he was with Toronto. He's unspectacular and a border-line NHLer, but he serves a role in a 6/7 type slot. A guy who won't complain if he is in the NHL but sitting in the press box most nights and isn't entirely unwilling to play in the AHL with the hope of a call up.

No big rush on Boyd. I'm sure his deal will get done in the next couple months.

One of the best d-men in the AHL. Congrats to Abbotsford.

many Flames fans feel the same way... but I see it differently... cap space is valuable... Kronwall likely isn't going to get much more than the league minimum... keeping him as the #7 guy will let Abbotsford develop their top 4 of Palin/Pelech and Aulie/Negrin... which I think will be better for the Flames franchise in the long run

Your logic does make sense, I'll give you that, but this guy keeps making every move that Sutter makes into a "What about Boyd! Are we replacing Boyd?" Thread.

i was merely commenting on yoru thoughts of him going to the Heat ... you already know how I feel about people like that especially since the guy is too thick to realize a depth defenseman or even depth forward for that matter will chance Boyd's status with the Flames

Clearly a depth signing by Sutter, I don't mind this acquisition. Basically I see it as Sutter telling Pelech he'll need to earn the 6 or 7th spot rather than have it handed to him due to salary constraints.

If Pelech makes the team out of camp they'l probably waive him or demote him. Maybe they can afford to keep him on the roster in the press box. Doesn't hurt to have cheap depth on defense, as we saw earlier this year. I see this mostly as the replacement for Eriksson.
