D-Vo and Stortini?

What about Dvorak? And I thought Stortini was supposed to be signed today.
Guy? Anybody?

OILERS INK DVORAK TO TWO-YEAR DEAL; PROSPECT STORTINI SIGNS

The Edmonton Oilers have announced forward Radek Dvorak has agreed to a two-year contract.

Dvorak, a native of Tabor, Czech Republic, scored 50 points (15-35-50) in 78 games with the Oilers last season, placing him second in team scoring. His +18 plus/minus rating also ranked him second on the team.

Oilers General Manager Kevin Lowe says, ”Radek is a very skilled player who has tremendous offensive upside and great speed. He has proven himself in the NHL and now we believe he can take his game to the next level.”

The 6’2”, 200-pound right-winger was originally a first round draft choice (10th overall in 1995). He has played 682 career NHL games, amassing 384 points (153-231-384). Dvorak represented the Czech Republic at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, scoring one goal in four games and was also a member of the Czech Republic’s team at the 2004 World Hockey Championship.

The Oilers also announced 19-year-old forward Zack Stortini has agreed to a three-year entry level contract. Stortini will return to the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves for the 2004-05 season, where he will continue his role as team captain.

Last season Stortini recorded 37 points (21-16-37) and 151 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Wolves. He also played in two regular season and three playoff games with the AHL’s Toronto Road Runners.

Found this little mention of Stortini in an interview with the Devils Cam Janssen...

Quote:
OHLTG: Give us your thoughts on these five opponents: Mike Amodeo, Bill Kinkel,
Zack Stortini, Danny Bois, and Chris Bain.

CJ: Stortini - hmmmm, uhhhh, who? No comment. We have the same agent so I can't really say, but he is a tough kid who lets say we have a mutual dislike for each other..I look forward to seeing him in the pros!

...

You don't drop the mitts to make friends. Simple as that. There's an unwritten player's code and usually it includes "goons" having mutual respect for their fellow gladiators but apparently Jannsen failed to get that memo. I'm sure Torts (just like the nick) will get his reply on the ice at some point in time!!!

And in Stortini's interview, this is what he said about Cam Janssen:

Browsing through the OHLtoughguys.com and all four of their writers have Zach Stortini rated as the best fighter in the OHL.
