It seems like the KHL is a lot bigger factor this year. And I also think the Radulov-Nashville situation really changed things.
while this is true, i still don't understand it. i'd rather see my team picking a high risk high reward russian in round 7 than a bushleague goon with echl upside at best.
i can see teams shying away from russians in the early rounds where there's good talent, but in round 6 and 7 you can gamble.
I cannot believe Patric Cehlin was passed over. He's an offensive minded player and is undersized, sure. However, I think he's listed at around 5'10, which isn't terribly threatening; he's got great offensive skills and is a slippery player, who can really fly when he gets going. He's got some leadership qualities from what I've seen, which is typically a big notch on the draft-criteria belt. Ultimately I just don't really understand why he wasn't taken.
I was also very shocked at Marek Hrivik and just generally most of the names listed, as well.
I don't think anyone has mentioned him, but Oleg Yashin to an extent also... maybe the name scared teams
Mark Owuya really did well during the season. It's kind of sad how his rapping mishap at early age still overshadows his performance on the ice. He was advised to put the music aside and focus on icehockey. He did. However, youtube kept his clown deeds he did some year before, alive. It'll probably come back and bite him in the a** for long...
