Trade Proposal: TB-Nash

This per the Felder, McCann, Eklund, Jordan rumors

TB gets:

Ellis

Nash gets:

Hall...ex-pred to replace lost Nichol, Fiddler...role player for $600K
McKenna...back-up and ex-pred draft pick

Save cap space, lock in a solid role player and decent back up

No way you give up Ellis in a deal like that.

I think trading Ellis is a dangerous but probably necessary move, especially if we have any hope of bringing in another forward. That said, they can keep Adam Hall. Make it McKenna and a pick and I'll sign off.

Make it just a pick. We can sign a better cheap backup and use the $$ to get a mid-level guy (1.6-2.2M) that would contribute more than Hall.

I think we really need to trade Ellis and roll the dice that we can get by with less money committed to the goalie position.

Wh-wh-WHAT?!

You're nuts. I would rather hang on to Ellis and hope he magically stops sucking than trade him for Adam Hall.

If Rinne can put together an Oct & Nov worthy of a starter, this deal could work but it`s too risky to send off Ellis before knowing how Rinne will do in his second year.

I don't think he "sucks, " but I think that it's an egregious waste of assets to have a 2.5 million dollar backup goalie when we're planning on trotting out Patric Hornqvist or Ryan Jones on the second line.

that 1.75M in Ellis needs to be used on a forward just to make things respectable. Jones, Hornqvist, Wilson, Ward and Tootoo can not really be considered top 6 forwards in the NHL. Good third liners, but not top two lines!!!

Dumont-Arnott-Sullivan
Erat-Legwand- UFAUFAUFAUFA

LAst 2 lines made up of:

Ward
Tootoo
Smithson
Jones
Ward
Belak
Hornqvist
O'Reilly

And we still need a d-man that will replace Zanon's 20-26 min of ice per night. His 100+ blocked shots and his 3-10 min of pk time per game

Don't lump Wilson into that bunch just yet - yes, he might not be a 2nd-line talent this year b/c he'll be a rookie, but he definitely appears to have top 2-line talent based on his performances at BU
