I figured we'd sign Ward for 1.25 per year or so. So it's at the top of what I expected but I'm glad they went ahead and did it. There's no reason to expect his year to be a fluke so I think the price is a fair deal for both sides.
He's not fast or flashy but he really does play a well rounded game. He doesn't have much NHL experience but you can see he has a lot of hockey experience.
We can win with guys like Ward playing third line roles. I'm beginning to hope we'll have a legitimate third line instead of just whatever Trotz flavor of the day is with his mix of role players.
