I don't mind the signing, if he comes in under 800k. He had a great rookie season with Boston, and it wasn't his fault he was thrown into the fire in TO. Disappointed in him as I fully expected him to bounce back in Col, despite them having a weak back end. Maybe he can now excel in a backup position with little to no pressure. Maybe he can get back to basics, have some fun in a support role and be a good locker room guy. I too am disappointed we lost LaBarbera as he was perfect for that role.
The Canucks wanted to retain Labarbera, however Labarbera wanted to play more than he would in Vancouver. Phoenix also offered a bigger contract than Labarbera probably would have received from the Canucks
WEIRD WEIRD move. not that I care about who will play those 10 games a year, as long as they can open and close a bench door effeciently. LOL. but what I'm more curious about is, what this means for Cory Schneider. He's gotta be scratching his head.
I'm going to assume that a long term (5 year) Luongo deal is all but finalized, which opens the door for CS to be traded with another piece/pick for a puck moving defensman.
PS. I've watched Rayzor (my brother is a big COL fan, and I can honestly say, he's terrible.)
Well enjoy him guys - you all better wash your hands when he's playing because you're going to be doing a lot of face-palming. If Rayzor's starting for 10-12 games, that's 10-12 games the Canucks have a very legitimate shot at losing.
You'll see how different your team plays in front of him - it's scary.
