I like it. He's played on some bad teams lately, let's see what he can do on a Canucks team.

No one will make me as nervous as Sanford did.

Hrm.

The pattern of former / low-end starters coming in here to back-up Luongo and hope some of his magic rubs off on them continues. It worked for LaBarbera even though he barely played.

This better be a Moose signing... Raycroft blows.

What's really important: how's his bench door-opening technique, since he'll be doing that for 70-odd games?

Raycroft is terrible. This better be a Moose signing or the cheapest backup option available so that Schneider can come up and play games when Luongo needs a rest.

This makes me sad, back up or not.

Edit: Oh God, if Luongo goes down, Raycroft is our starter.

A signing to push Schneider at camp.
Why didnt we just retain LaBarbera then?

I could be mistaken, but I seem to recall back when Raycroft was a Leaf he didn't take kindly to being a "second fiddle". Not really a "team player" back then.

One can only hope he's been humbled since then to have an attitude change - as I don't like this signing, two-way deal or not.

I don't mind the signing, if he comes in under 800k. He had a great rookie season with Boston, and it wasn't his fault he was thrown into the fire in TO. Disappointed in him as I fully expected him to bounce back in Col, despite them having a weak back end. Maybe he can now excel in a backup position with little to no pressure. Maybe he can get back to basics, have some fun in a support role and be a good locker room guy. I too am disappointed we lost LaBarbera as he was perfect for that role.

The Canucks wanted to retain Labarbera, however Labarbera wanted to play more than he would in Vancouver. Phoenix also offered a bigger contract than Labarbera probably would have received from the Canucks

800k? I'd be pissed if this was 500,000.01! Or whatever the minimum is + one cent.

Lets hope he backs up Ellis in Victoria.

Luongo's latest waterboy. Raycroft is a suitable backup and has some experience so he wouldn't lose his lunch if he had to play more than one game per month.

WEIRD WEIRD move. not that I care about who will play those 10 games a year, as long as they can open and close a bench door effeciently. LOL. but what I'm more curious about is, what this means for Cory Schneider. He's gotta be scratching his head.

I'm going to assume that a long term (5 year) Luongo deal is all but finalized, which opens the door for CS to be traded with another piece/pick for a puck moving defensman.

PS. I've watched Rayzor (my brother is a big COL fan, and I can honestly say, he's terrible.)

Well enjoy him guys - you all better wash your hands when he's playing because you're going to be doing a lot of face-palming. If Rayzor's starting for 10-12 games, that's 10-12 games the Canucks have a very legitimate shot at losing.

You'll see how different your team plays in front of him - it's scary.

Well, if he signed with a team that sports Luongo as its starter expecting to challenge for the starting role, he's got more than a rather rapid career decline to worry about.
