This is good news. SOB is the kind of heart and soul emotional guy you need. I do believe he has more upside than he is given credit for.

I loved the moment last season when he was standing near the bench trying to get Jaarko Ruutu into a fight by saying, with a big grin on his face : C'mon, it'll be fun.

A little too high than what I wanted, based on the reason I want to bring back Sundin, and cap space is shrinking as the off-season progresses.

Reasonable for a third-pairing defenseman. This guy was a great role player for the Canucks last year. He takes some bad penalties, but he really provides toughness to our defense corps.

Maybe a tiny bit overpaid... But not by much, and he was needed.

I'll take it - you aren't going to get much better than $1.6MM for a 5-6 guy like SOB unless you can fill that hole with a rookie up and comer. Glad to get him locked up and it's nice to see the final roster take shape so we know what is left to fill holes.

That is why you need grit and guys who are willing to hit. Hjarmersson back off like a kid scared of the dark when Hordi came running later on in that shift that cause that goal.

As usual, I don't agree with re-signing O'brien in general, and I don't think he's worth $1.5M. I don't think he has any upside to be a top 4 and those attitude problems from last year I didn't like either.

If we need a goon on D, those can be had for $500-$600K.

It's a little high but it's one year and it keeps him motivated to improve. It also makes him easier to move if he god forbid he gets scratched again next season and can't deal with it.
