ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues’ President John Davidson announced today the club has signed forward Ian Schultz.

Schultz, 19, played for the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL last season, notching 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) along with 127 penalty minutes in 58 games played. The 6-2, 200-pound forward was selected in the third round, 87th overall by the Blues in the 2008 Entry Draft.
I don't really know anything about this player, can you guys tell me a bit about him?

Borderline heavyweight pugilist who isnt lost on the ice. Sounds Crombeenish, but maybe better known for his fighting ability than Crombeen

He's got potential but be a good checking line forward in the NHL. He won't be in the NHL this season though as he's pretty much certain to be returned to his Jr team, the Calgary Hitmen (he's too young to be sent to Peoria). This was just the Blues getting signing him out of the way and gets him a little bonus money to spend. Look for him to make his pro debut with Peoria for the 2010-11 season.

I like him as a good middleweight who can score some goals. He may continue to develop his offensive game in the junior and minor leagues.

Definitely a prospect as a fourth-liner and could develop into a third-line player.

Sounds like a Mike Keane type.

He looked ok today at the skate very short stride for a taller guy, shoit is solid but never opened up. Lacks NHL speed, will need a lot of time to grow into a power role/grinder bc he lacks the explosiveness.
