hey, I tried to atleast get Desluariers mentioned in the AHL board on their best goalie discussion - I got the feeling people looked at me like "what an idiot homer"

It's tough for rookies though... the AHL has some very good goalies in it, and I personally wouldn't put JDD in the top 10 either... but at the same time, Ward and Harding wouldn't crack it either.

There is a hardcore love-in for Fleury though... which goes beyond any rational argument (he was incredible all season long, but it was the team who got worse )

TheSpecialist - MacT thinks he was that good of a hockey player when in actuality he was no better then a Louie Debrusk.

I did notice JDD is getting some love.

I browsing through a "2002 Re-Draft" and I was suprise to see JDD get on into the top 10 of peoples lists... usually they would scoff at the idea that he should be drafted higher then he did in 2002. Its funny though, I remember last year at the same time when we were discussing who should get the nod for team Canada at the WJC JDD was not well loved and yet the same posters now have him higher then the players the were defending Now I hate be the "I told you so" guy but for all you JDD doubters

I personally like Ward more than Deslauriers, but then again I have seen more of Ward, so that might be it.

However, I regard Deslauriers and Harding as about equal. Harding beat out JDD for the WJC job, but it wasn't a big edge or anything. Either one would have done well there.

I do like JDD though. This first year in the AHL will mean so much more than any other year, and it's nice to see he's taking the challenge well.

yeah this year will tell us more about him than his next season in the AHL for sure... we get to see if he raises his game at the pro level, if he can handle the travel and schedule and this year the AHL has 1-2 NHL roster players on almost every team, so the calibre of the teams is slightly raised... but lets not get too carried away after 2 games though if he still has stats anywhere close to this in another 15 games, then ill be getting pretty excited
