That should be interesting, even though it will mostly be largely rookie and prospect tryouts. Interestingly enough, the Phantoms beat the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit's AHL club) 3-1 overall last season with a score of 15-12 total.

Preseason slate:
Sept. 16 at Detroit
Sept. 22 vs. Detroit

The Flyers are probably playing the Red Wings in London. That's usually the first game the Flyers get leaked.

The others will probably be the Rangers, Devils and Caps.

Yeah, that @ TBD on the 22nd is definitely London. The London game is always around that date there. I'd be shocked if it wasn't. Damn it, why don't the Devils visit London. Blah.

Dammit. They always have a game the day before, or the day after my birthday. Just once, I would like to see them on the 23rd. Not too much to ask.

Nothing stopping them from doing just that

Not on Boston's slate either, but they do have 2 games vs. the Rangers.

Preseason schedules being revealed earlier this year.

Not saying that it hasn't happened in the past, but I personally can't recall the Flyers playing the Wings in the Preseason... Except for the Canadian games usually scheduled, the Flyers seem to always play teams close to Philly... Interesting.

I saw the Flyers and Detroit play in Orlando in the early 90s. They also played around the same time in Miami before the Panthers arrived. Ron Hextall and Jim Cummins got into a slashing battle. Hextall was suspended for six games and Cummins was suspended three games for retaliating by slashing Hextall in the mask.

The Flyers used to play the Red Wings every year. I saw a Flyers/Red Wings preseason game once and Kevin Hodson was the goalie. It was also a preseason game in Detroit when Eric Desjardins took a puck to the mouth, and I think missed the start of the season, and then played for a while with a full face guard

My bad then... Preseason games don't occupy much space in my memory, so that could easily be the case... It's just always struck me how they seemed to stay somewhat local, and I assumed it was for financial reasons pertaining to travel and lodging costs. To be honest, it seems a waste to me to travel to Detroit for an exhibition game... We're talking practice here, not a game, not a game, but practice, not a game... practice... we're talking practice.

I definately want to see the London game. It sells quick though and it's not exactly cheap.

I missed it the previous years though (vs. Washington and Atlanta) and I think Richards had 5 pnts in one of them...lol.

No missing out this time!

OT: Speaking of London... We were in London at the end of May... London England. We stumbled on a Tim Horton's and had to stop for a cup of Joe and a Stromboli for lunch... and snapped this photo for all my Canadian friends:

Yep, Ontario.

There's some history behind the relationship (w/ Knights or Labatt Centre ownership or something).

It also doesn't hurt that it's Carter's home town.

Comcast owns the Knights and the John Labatt Centre which is why they always play a game there every year. Usually the first one.

I've seen them play Washington and Atlanta there. I missed Pittsburgh cause I moved to Toronto. Loved the Atlanta game, cause I was chirpin' Knuble for not being patriotic. His mates were laughin', so was he, until some knucklehead called him a joke.

How much more patriotic do you want him to be? He was born on the Fourth of July... Oh, you didn't mean American?

Flyers aren't listed as playing Vancouver, Boston or Carolina, either.
Carolina is playing just four preseason games, two with Atlanta and two with Nashville. I like that better than eight games.

Unknowns (17):
NJ, NYR, NYI, Buff, Mon, Tor, Wash
Chi, Cbs, Stl, Calg, Col, Edm, Minn, Ana, Pho, SJ

Preseason slate:
Sept. 16 at Detroit
Sept. 22 vs. Detroit

Scratch Carolina, Edmonton, San Jose and Columbus off the list of potential opponents.

You may be correct about Comcast owning the John Labatt Center but i can tell you with 100% certainty that they do not own the London Knights, that Mark and Dale Hunter own the London Knights.

Anyone know when tickets go onsale?

To my knowledge, it hasn't been confirmed that there is a game in London. The Red Wings game is scheduled for Philadelphia (according to the Red Wings' web site).

If they play 8 games, the other 3 opponents are probably the Rangers, Devils and Capitals. I'd be surprised if they weren't.
