Heatley should have more value, but this isn't fantasy-land, there is more to a trade then just the value on each side. What good is it to gain a great player, if the team as a whole suffers?

It doesn't work for the Sharks, who simply can't afford to add such a contract because it costs them more core-players then just the two they are trading. Taking away further core-players leaves them with no depth at all. Some may think that it can work, I'm certainly not one of them. Teams can't win the Cup if they have no depth.

While Ottawa should get more for him, at least Ehrhoff isn't a scrub, and Heatley hasn't increased his trade-value lately.

It's funny how there's options for "I'm a Sharks Fan" and "I hate Heatley," but no Senators fan option. Same with your other poll.

Just get over it, kid. Whether this is fair value or not or whether or not Heatley has more value than Marleau, Shark fans don't want Heatley.

Quit making useless polls.

As a fan of both teams I like the deal. Cheechoo would replace Heatley on Ottawa's 1st line while Ehroff gives the Senators another good young d-man. Heatley could return to his 50 goal days with Thornton as his centre.

Currently, the Sharks have $1.4 million in cap space and need to sign six players to have a roster of 22 players. The average cap space per player needed is at about $225 000.

After a Heatley for Cheechoo, Ehrhoff and a 1st trade, the Sharks have no cap space and will need to sign seven players.

Also, for the third year in a row, the Sharks will not have a first round pick.
