MaxPac, he saw some NHL action and should be a lock for the team next season. It was soooooo close with Subban though...I can't wait to buy a Subban jersey

He was decent for us last year, but definitely not great and he was on pace for less than 10 goals. A lock? Come on... The guy has everything prove.

I don't understand all the Subban votes. He has a lot of work to do in defense.

Max Pacioretty is #1 by far...

That's also what I think. Pacioretty will be good, but I don't see him becoming an 80 points player. IMO, Subban really could become something special...

Subban don't have as much work to do as people think...he came along nicely in the past two years. He's already pretty close from the NHL. People are stuck with the idea that he's really bad on defense because of the scouting reports of 2 years ago...

I don't get to see Subban play, but in the OHL coaches poll Subban was rated second in the eastern conference in the defensive defenceman category.

Also he was rated first in hardest shot category.
First in the offensive defenceman category.
Second in best playmaker category.

He is also a physical presence out there as well. The guy has all the tools to be an absolute gem!

I'm rating prospects by their ceilings first and their potential to reach them next. I don't care if they are ready for the big show.

Pacioretty has a lot of work to do in offense and also has to work on his defense. They're both young players who have a lot to learn at both ends of the ice. Is Pacioretty our number one prospect? You can make a case for him. Is he by far our best prospect? Definitely not.

Personally, I see Subban as our number one prospect because he's the guy with the best potential. He has the tools to be a great offensive defenseman. Also, he has shown to be more than willing to improve on his weaknesses. His defensive play has improved a lot since he was drafted. Plus, he's physically ready for the NHL.

No votes for Leblanc? He was drafted higher than Pacioretty in a deeper draft. Are we voting for potential or who's better right now?

While Leblanc may have a higher potential, odds of Pacioretty reaching his own potential may be higher.

Something like Leblanc 7.5C vs Pacioretty 6.5A.

You are saying that our 2 best offensive prospects are a potential 2nd liner/borderline 1rst and a 3rd liner/borderline 2nd. OUCH!

Thing is you never know with prospects, player development has been piss poor lately in Montreal. Hopefully things will change.

Subban's upside merks Patches'. I think Patches' ceiling is a great 2nd line player (60-70 pts), Subban could be Mike Green v2.0. Even though it is less likely Subban will reach that ceiling, you have to rank prospects based on overall potential which goes to Subban, and its not even close.

Oh, and Avstyn already has a good foot speed, which is a big criteria in my evaluation. I don't know about Turnev.
That was 2 years ago:

His first KHL goal (look at his blazing speed):
