I heard someone on the local vancouver sprsts radio station said it costed you 14 million. but i assume that is to sign the rfas who were made ufas? but how much would you have been able to sign those guys for if they were rfas? so we can find the difference and see how much it really mattered.

He cost them $14 mil if he let them all go to UFA.

In other words, nowhere close to $14 mil.

Hair pullers usually don't make sense.

Come on guys... he means how much less would we likely have signed Versteeg and Barker if we didn't know they were likely to become UFAs if they didn't like the deals the Blackhawks were presenting them.

I think we could have gotten both for 2.5-2.75mil had Tallon or whoever NOT effed up.

A few hundred thousand at most, and that in itself might be too high of a figure.

Exactly. The entire notion that this RFA mess cost the Hawks some crazy amount of cap money is ridiculous and drastically over stated.

From my POV - the only guy who took advantage was Versteeg, and even that was by a max of $500K. Even then, the real problem was probably the comparable from last year (Buff) rather than the QO debacle.

This is pretty close to what I've been thinking. If they benefited anything it was fairly minor. Maybe six figures, but on the low end of that. I think they could have recieved more on the UFA market if a bidding war started. So in the end we still got them for fairly close to market value.
