Kevin Weekes

Do you think he is highly overrated, overrated, given fair credit, underrated or highly underrated?

I don't think he is good at all. It was a stupid move to go out and get him he isn't much of an upgrade from Dunham. We should have just let Valiquette or Labarbara be the other goalie.

I think he is terrible, but not sure that qualifies as overrated.

he's decent...not really any better than dunham, can put together some strong games

some people overrate him, some underrate him.

While I'm likely his biggest fan here, I don't "overrate" him, and I don't think he's a certifiable #1 that can carry a team.

He is what he is. A sligtly more talented, and consistent upgrade to Dunham. I think the best thing Weekes has over Dunham is mental toughness.

I voted "underrated," but I wouldn't rate him among the top 10 goalies in the league.

I think he's pretty good. He was being killed in carolina w/ the bad defense. In NY i'm not so sure if he will be pelted as bad. There are some good checkers and players who have defensive talent and the D is solid except for Poti.
Holik, Ortmeyer, Murray, Nylander, etc will help reduce the bad plays.

his ability to sit for long periods of time and then come in and give you a solid performance. He may be able to carry you for a short period of time. He has always played well against us. If nothing else it could help us against carolina. He's competent enough to give dunham a push for the job. Remember both of these guys are short timers. If they stink, all the better, we get a better pick. It's all about acquiring assets. The better the quality the better off we will be.

QUESTION:

Is Kevin Weekes the Rangers #1 goalie? Is he ahead of Dunham, Valiquette, and Labarbera?

Thanks in advance.

dunham and weekes are gonna likely split time 50:50

LaBarbera will play starter for AHL

Valiquette is hardly NHL backup material.

Really ? and u get that opinion from........ WHERE ?

I think if u look at his NHL stats for the games he played are not bad at all. I think the guy has talent to get good time in net , but, thats imo. What did u see him start the 2 games here and pass judgement that quickly, when i actually thought when called up was quit solid. I mean where is your quote coming from , i would guess well more likely know u never seen him play more than those 2 times, so , how do u rate him as hardly NHL back up material. Seems a bit silly when u really know nothing much of the guy, u say it like u have seen him play hundreds of times. Dont talk like u know its a fact, its more or less just or your opinion.

I also voted that he is given fair credit, an ok goalie , but not good enough to carry a NHL team IMO. The guy is good for 25-30 games a season, and good to take over the starter in case a#1 of the team goes down, only then. Like i said he ios not a regular #1 man IMO.

From his history. It is not really all that storied. VAliquette was placed on waivers by the Islanders. Then became a throw-in with Edmonton. He is barely an AHL goalie. He has size. But he is one of those that cannot play big. His 6'5" frame does not allow him to play any angles whatsoever and he is killed low. Other goalies have learned how to use their size. Not so this one.

"I think if u look at his NHL stats for the games he played are not bad at all"

If you are talking about the games he played for the Rangers. Sure stats may LOOK ok. But look deeper. One game he won 3-1, one game he could not stop a beach ball and lost 5-0. Or look at the game he started for Edmonton. 5 goals on 7 shots. Not too good. The Islanders did not think that he was NHL backup material. Neither did Edmonton. His play did not prove either wrong.
