Man, I don't understand a word of what you just said. If you watched Rissmiller play in the playoffs last season you would be calling him an idiot too. The guy deserves to ride AHL buses the rest of his career. What are you? Mediocre scrub no effort defense force? Whatever...

We qualified Moore, didn't we? He should still be an RFA.

Moore has UFA status under Group 6 -- which deals with his age and number of NHL games played.

Moore didn't play 80 NHL games(regular season and/or playoffs),has played at least 3 pro seasons and is 25 years old or older.

Mirtle is reporting that Greg Moore signed a one year 2-way deal from the Isles.

With Moore, gone, Squish, any idea who may be a choice for Wolf Pack Captain?

Patrick Rissmiller.

Really though, I would think PA Parenteau has a chance. Let's wait on Squish or JI though.

too bad I liked the guy. Best of luck with the Isles

I would figure if Sanguinetti or Sauer don't make the Rangers then one of them is the captain

I think Gilroy, Heikkenin and Potter make the Rangers mainly because of age. Sauer and Sanguinetti will get called up and be ready for next yr for sure

Dallas did not have an AHL affiliate last season so they loaned their players to Manitoba. Dallas has their affiliate now so the Rangers should loan Rissmiller to Manitoba. The Rangers will still be paying his salary.

Players who are expected to make the NHL are usually not named captain of an AHL team.

And Dallas will do this cause? Isn't it enough that they are paying half of Avery's salary?

They will probably start the season with no captain like they have in the past before giving it to a guy who seems like he deserves it/will be sticking around. Like you guys said, a few of the defenseman have the chance to make it, as well as some of the forwards (Byers, etc).

Dallas is no longer involved with Manitoba. Vancouver is involved with Manitoba. Dallas has their own AHL team starting play in 09-10. Dallas loaned their prospects to Manitioba last season. If there is a shortfall, perhaps the Rangers can loan a player or two to Manitoba.

I also don't think Potter or Sauer make the team out of camp...You figure:

Redden, Rozy, Staal, Girardi, (mara?/UFA?), Gilroy, Heikkenen are all much better candidates to make the team. DZ and Sangs also seem more likely to make the team. Lets not forget that Torts said no spots are guaranteed, well I would imagine he doesn't much care for what whoever did last season, but what whoever is going to do for him this season.

Is there a reason why Denisov is listed as a UFA? Wasn't he given a 2 year deal.

Pretty sure he was on a one year entry level contract--it was only one year because of his age. In any case, he's not coming back to the Ranger organization.

It doesn't matter which AHL team is affliated where--why would any organization take a problem player--a 30 year old who wasn't good enough to stay on the NHL roster and didn't play hard for the most part in the minors?

But, hey, at least we all now know for sure that Rissmiller's deal was for more than one year.

AHL just did it's divisional re-alignment for the upcoming season. With 29 teams this year, the divisions will be uneven, and the Atlantic got stuck with the extra team. Bridgeport officially becomes a divisional rival of the WolfPack, along with Manchester, Springfield, Lowell, Worcester, Portland, and Providence.

Not topic worthy, but the Pack have added Ryan Garlock, a 23-year old former 2nd round draft pick. Bounced around between Syracuse in the AHL and the ECHL last season.

Hartford has signed forward Ryan Garlock to an American Hockey League contract.

The 2008-09 campaign was Garlock's third in the pro ranks, and he split it between the Syracuse Crunch and the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs. In 35 contests with the Crunch, the 6-0, 202-pound Garlock notched four goals and added one assist for five points and amassed 19 minutes in penalties.
