Kings do announce it as a 2-year deal, won't disclose dollars in their initial press release.

I'm assuming the Kings are not overspending $$ on this particular contract, based on rumors. If the dollars are not high it makes sense to sign a relatively shorter deal. JJ then has 2 years to truly earn a bigger payday.

Per Hammond:

Jack Johnson re-signed with the Kings today, a two-year contract with a salary-cap hit of $1.425 million per season. Teddy Purcell's contract isn't likely to be done until Monday.

Way to go Matt.

Great deal, 1.4 hit for the next 2 is an absolute bargain.

great signing in my opinion, another good move by DL. Jack will now have 2 years to prove himself and prove hes worth a huge contract.

additionally, given that next season is apparently the wonky one, it may give them a little more security should they desire to shoe-horn Frolov in somehow.

I hope he shows it this season. I expect any player to turn it on in a contract year, but I wanna see him try to break out right away and really show us what he's got.

He will be an RFA.

He will not be eligible for UFA status for 5 more years.

He'll be an RFA, you need 6 years of service to gain UFA status.

Pretty sure RFA. Nice work by DL and a good scoop for CBGB. Everybody wins!

GREAT move by DL.

If JJ performs like everyone expects him to, in 2 years DL can lock him up for life.

Did the Kings announce when playoff tickets will go on sale?

But... but... the Canadian media pundits said he wants $5.5 million a year and the HF posters for other teams said Johnson is greedy and where there's smoke there's fire!

I hope you are being sarcastic....because I would call Johnson an idiot if he agreed to a contract like that.

Good Deal. If the numbers are true then we got a steal and Jack has committed himself to our system and payroll. Hopefully this quiets some of the rumors floating around.

Edit - http://www.insidesocal.com/kings/200....html#comments

The numbers are verified. This is a steal. Great work. Kudos to CBGB for calling it.
